Time for a new Truck

First tow. Only went a few miles to get a feel for it.

Barely squats. It feels about like my 1/2 ton does with an empty trailer. The trailer brake controller is way better though...didn't realize how jerky the old one is.

Plenty of torque, rides better loaded than unloaded, and didn't have any sway. All the things the old truck didn't have.

 

I drive an F250 at work. Can’t tell you what year it is, but I’ve had it at least 5 years and it has been trouble free, except for a seat replacement. I hope yours is trouble free.
We’ve had a 2012 F550 v10 chip truck since new and it’s had 0 mechanicals with the cab and chassis. The F150’s they have in the fleet have had some electrical gremlins.

 

Congrats on the new truck! I think you spec'd it perfectly. Now fill it with firewood!

 

I like my 2019 XL 6.2L long box supercab. Ex-construction truck but good shape. Added a headache rack and liftgate to it.

Got the bed liner and bed cover installed. I think it's done. Until I think of the next thing to do to it.

 

Translation it’s done for this weekend… which is good as it’s almost 6 pm on a Sunday

 

The factory halogen headlight and reverse light bulbs are a joke on this truck. I thought it would be an easy upgrade.

Turns out to change the headlight bulbs you have to remove the grill and drop the front bumper so you can remove the headlight housings to get to the bulbs. SMH.

I have it all apart and new bulbs but it but will probably wait until dark to put it back together. It's quite the investment to get it back apart if something doesn't look right.

Other than that, love the truck. It's a beast.

 

My 2019 XL F250 said a million screws and clips to remove the grill and other parts. I got lucky and only had to remove the plenum to the air cleaner to replace the one burned out, 2 clips. What the heck do some of the manufacturers thinking?

 

I find it funny that Ford went from 2 crappy headlights to 4 crappy headlights. Good move Ford. At least they're better than my 01 had.

 

Do you have factory LED or Halogen?

 

The new ones are VERY bright. I got it all back together but probably need to adjust them downward some. Maybe tomorrow night.

Lol. I analyze things so much. Probably too much.

But, my '16 unicorn 5.0 f150 is just broken in. I did my front brakes and found that I had a dragging front driver's side pad. All fixed now and it tows my big boat so much easier now. I plan on keeping this truck for another 140 k.

That doesn't mean I won't upgrade sooner. Lol.

The halogens from the 15-17 F-150 were ok, but the LEDs from the higher trucks made a huge difference.

 

It was a great thread; I learned a lot; I saw others choose newer with 6 turbo and already gone. Transmission went and 4 month waiting (while making car payments) for parts traded it and walked

 

Ford truck owners should call for that idiot engineers head on a stake!
It doesn't need to be like that...they can make it simpler, but they put no thought into it.
I don't remember anymore what the model was, but back when I was selling trucks we had one that was "pididdle" and there would have been no access to easily change the headlight bulbs otherwise, BUT, they made a little door that you could pop open to access them...atta boy Mr engineer!
