I have tons of it in my woods, especially in the low spots. Was that stuff all EAB-kill? Not looking forward to dealing with that.

There is a bit of ash here. It has been in a general decline for a long time, doing a good job of dying off on its own even without the EAB which is on the doorstep. Certainly more oak, but there is usually a log or two of ash in the loads I get from a tree guy.

Yes. It's prevalent here. Little D shaped holes everywhere. I'm saddened that we will lose all these really beautiful trees, but on the other hand, it is nice firewood.

Where I cut, you can just cut em one after another. I just don't have a large enough vehicle/trailer to get more. They die faster than you can cut them.

Yeah I hand split, so I really really like it. Heats great too. All of mine are still healthy for the most part. The standing dead ones look too have been suffocated by vines, esp PI. I'm going to have it coming out my ears once that thing gets here.

I hand split also. Fiskars X27 FTW! I set my friends up when they come up and want to try splitting a round. I show them how using Ash for myself... Then give them a big round of Maple to split! I make it look so easy they say... Then I let em split a round of Ash and they call me names... Until I split the Maple round just like it were Ash, LOL.

My BIL just bought an axe after I was splitting circles around him and his hydro this weekend. :D Pretty much everything I get my hands on came from my woods, so it's all really straight grained forest grown stuff. Fiskars cuts it all like butta!:axe:

Two small Ash trees tonight. Ran into some commercial loggers leaving for the night on my way in. Nice fellas, ended up talking with them for a while. Didn't leave me much time before dark to cut, but I still managed to fill my Durango up!

I just now finished dinner and took a shower. Time to relax a bit before bed. I seem to remember Friday nights being important... What the heck happened? Now I'm excited to get up in the morning and cut wood. My 18yo self would have laughed at that idea...
