Last Saturday, I rented this unit from the local OPE dealer. (I ran into buZZsaw BRAD when I returned it! Always good to see you!) I can’t recall the exact hours, but they were pretty low and the unit was really clean. It had the seed hopper up front. I had watched a few youtube videos a couple of days prior to picking it up. It operated pretty similar to how the Scag Jackal track loader I rented last year (or so) ago. It took a little getting used to as the hydros were a bit touchy. I’m used to my belt driven 48” Deere walk behind mower which has a bit more slack in the controls. Anyways, this thing saved a TON of time. I was able to do the entire lawn in two directions in just a couple of hours. I had it set at 3” and it was pulling consistent 2.5-3” plugs. Yeah, I measured the first past. LOL. It had a neat option where you could raise and lower the actual aerator with a switch, or a foot activated switch. I opted for the foot control and that worked great. If you hit a root or a rock just under the surface, the tines would automatically raise; neat feature. Couple of pics from the adventure. I love renting stuff like this to get the job done, but to also get to use some different equipment; and learn along the way. I opted to not use the front mounted drop seeder. I just didn’t have enough experience with the machine to see how that would do. After returning the machine, I used our broadcast spreader to put the seed down. Couple of pics. Great thread; well posted picture and my umm lawn will no longer be posted on this forum as none of it looks that good.. wheelers mud, tractors etc etc best described after a mow as weeds are same height
Some cool machines to try out. I recently ran a brush cutter for the first time. Had considered owning one but wouldn't get used a lot. Great looking yard there. Our side yard is nothing but crabgrass.
Appreciate it everyone! I’ll have to get some pics of the lawn now that we’ve been about two weeks out. The lawn was a little yellow in the pics because I cut it a little short prior to do this job. It’s greened up nicely as we got lucky with rain.
