The walls are okay, but definitely needs some trim that isn't white. The bathroom is way too blah for me - and I normally go for pretty plain looking stuff.

 

There is a partial lunar eclipse presenting a blood moon. 27th/28th.

 

I hope you get some relief from the pain Dave. Will be pulling for you.

 

I like the house and the view but where do I build the shop?

It's not the pain as much as the random numbness in my leg.

 

That's the problem with it.

 

After a few weeks of high temps in the low 70s, we have been back in the 80s for a few days. I was thinking I am totally ready for the cool weather. And looking forward to a fire in the stove and room temps in the 80s....makes no sense if you think about it

 

Talking mid to upper 90's again this weekend. With any luck I can still get some much-needed splitting taken care of.

 

I like a mix of medium and dark colors usually, white can look good on ceilings and trim with the right surroundings.

That bright red exterior would be right at home in downtown St.John's "Jellybean Row". Some legends say the bright colors were for visibility (from sea) in fog, others say it's because fishermen simply used the same paint for their houses that they used for their boats.

In any case, in many neighborhoods, they're now mandated to keep those colors, and clapboard, under heritage property guidelines. I normally don't agree with restrictions on what you can do with your house, but this is one case that I do (although the rowhouse life is not for me). It's a massive tourist attraction for the city and a huge part of the downtown character. Pastel vinyl would be unacceptable.

That's what I like about the rural communities. Houses tucked behind others, facing all kinds of different directions, all different shapes, styles, bright and dark colors, what have you. Not much looks out of place when everything is different.

 

I am in need of a bookcase for the sunroom.

There have been some nice ones on craigslist and marketplace but they are quit a drive to get to; usually beginning at 2 hours one way.

Can always bundle it with a trip to menards, no?

 

We drove down JellyBean row and around various areas of the town. It was quite interesting to see where houses were perched and what colours were used. I don't like the modern trend of grey, dark brown, or black colours used today. We live in a very grey climate for a lot of the year and it looks depressing.

 

I like grey and black, but not in overpowering amounts. If every 8th or 10th house is done well in those colors with bright and medium colors mixed in, I don't mind one bit. But I completely agree with you if it's dominating the neighborhood.

I got a free, barely used roll of sheathing tape today. Someone returned it for being too sticky

 

I don't get people that like their home that warm in the winter. It makes the cold temps outside seem even colder - and that doesn't even mention that I would be sweating up a storm. That is why a pellet stove is perfect for me - can keep the general house temp at 68-69.

 

Yup, anything over 74-75 summer or winter is too warm IMO
