Split half the load off the truck yesterday. Not as much fun as it got rained on. Ill split the rest tomorrow. Id like to cut another load of beech this week.
Yup. Got a text for my first order for 26-27 season. Looks like the rack that she gets will be for this BL. Still some logs on PU I'll split this morning.

Havent been to the woodyard in a few days. Stacked the general cordage red maple cut two weeks ago. Loaded the dead barkless BL splits from last weekend along along with some occupying a rack temporarily for a customer tomorrow. My sole original BL customer. Stacked the mulberry from three weeks ago in its place. Moved some apple splits here to assemble more smoker bundles and discovered some plum splits in the stack. Grabbed those too. Just by coincidence I had a regular smoker customer inquire about plum recently. Sent him a text and sold the four bundles I assembled. He coming tonight at 8. Wish all my wood sales were this easy.
Hello gents! After a god-awful summer of heatwaves and forest fires I decided to take out my bowsaw and cut down three holm oaks for my first (and so far only) summer hoard. All three had died from Phytophthora root rot (a nasty bastard of a fungus that is killing a lot of trees in Spain). Picture of the spoils (it doesn't look like much but keep in mind that all this was done with a bowsaw and carried to my house with a wheelbarrow). I have a pretty healthy stack but I had the bug of doing some cutting and there is simply never enough wood. I'll processs it tomorrow
Added a fourth one today (the hoarding bug awakens from his slumber) I'll post a follow up picture once I've processed it.
So, ended up adding a 5th oak to the pile (very old and had fallen from the wind). This is the piled up tree trunks and branches before processing. And below is the results once I pulled out my trusty bowsaw (on the right the heftier trunks for the really cold days of winder and towards the right the smaller branches; the ones all the way to the right I'll use mainly at the beginning stages of the fire because they are really old and won't provide much heat). I started this evening around 15:00 and ended around 20:00, that is cutting, wheelbarrowing them to my pile (6 wheelbarrows in total) and stocking them. Between cutting and carrying all the trunk and branches to my garden from the forest, then processing them and finally stacking them I think I've met my quota of sawing exercise for the summer!

Did some cutting this week at Did a little cutting the last couple days. Moved some beech rounds to storage. SS those. More cutting Tuesday. Hove more beech to split off the truck this morning. Half cord fack of such filling up. May grab more rounds later. One log I'll have to half the rounds. Green beech is heavy!
Split the beech off the truck this morning. Less than a quarter cord. Hit the score and bucked the remaining logs including noodling the biggest beech that was too heavy for my liking. Took some back to storage and split it all. Half cord of splits made today, including the last of the black birch. Ill get the last very soon. Have a BL delivery tomorrow morning then hitting a "new" score from a location I cut at in the Spring. Goldilocks sugar maple spars.
Decided not to cut a load today as I have too many splits to stack. The birch almost topped off a half cord, Added some beech to finish it. Topped off the half cord stack of beech. Still a quarter cord of beech splits to stack. Have to move some smoker wood out and it will occupy that rack. A rack opened up after todays delivery so the bark on BL splits from post #50 got stacked there. Maybe 30% of a cord, The dead barkless from the score has been sold already. I them moved a half cord of bundle splits next door and tossed in the shed. I figure the next rain day I can do some stacking. I may finish up the beech score tomorrow.
