Like I mentioned before and am sure to mention again, the Kuuma sips firewood!

It was a relief to be rid of the energy king. Built strong and nothing wrong with it, just needed something much better.

I see the ad still listed...and the guy seems like a straight shooter, so I really think he'd mark it sold, if it was...but who knows...

Or in this case, cold, and/or tired of cleaning the chimney yet again.

 

I hate losing out on deals regardless if it's due to my own indecision or outside circumstances. Power washers, wood chippers, you name it. That stuff can haunt me for years

Maybe it wasn't truly that high of a priority. It's still warm out, after all...

 

I dunno...he's created 2 or 3 threads on the matter...and contacted people asking their advice/experience, but that's been over a period of a couple years too, so maybe you are right.
Or maybe something just plain come up and couldn't make it to the sale...I know I've had it happen.
I had an appointment to go buy a cheap mower last week, literally a couple hours earlier my wife was offered 2 for free, just come get them (they were closer too!) So, I had to cancel on the other guy (which I had already rescheduled with once before!) I haven't touched the one yet, but poured the old gas out of the other, and it fired right up...mowed for an hour or so then!

 

12 messages over a period of 7.5 years, 4 of them being in the last 2 weeks tells me he's probably as casual a burner as he is a member here. Which is completely fine; I just don't understand rehashing the same issue over and over again. I do hope he gets his affairs sorted out because it's no fun scrambling around in the dead of winter, trying to keep the house warm as you work through other problems.

 

I don't think so...I met him at a GTG and he claims to have somewhere in the range of 100 cords of mostly Hickory in the barn! Which I think he was offering to sell some recently...not sure if it was standing timber, or ready to burn firewood.
Edit: here... Hickory and cherry wood available. I have 45 acres of mostly hickory

 

I drove down and looked at it. It is a piece of junk. I do not think I am going to find a Russel in usable shape. I let the Kuuma go because someone offered him full price for it and I hated to see him lose $500 because of me. So, I am still looking. Most of what I see on marketplace are worn out junk. I am having a hard time justifying $8500 for a new Kuuma. At my age I can probably just pay my electric bill until I go for that much money. If you hear of any others, please let me know.

 

It is cut, split and under roofs. I just started selling some. I have sold a cord a day this week and have orders for 20 more face cords

 

Yeah finding a machine that old in nice shape would be very unlikely.
I know who bought the Kuuma, he paid $500 less than the asking price...great deal.
How big is your house...or maybe a better question would be how big is your heat load? Is the VF100 seemingly about the right size, or is it a little big? They used to make a slightly smaller VF200 also (yeah, larger number, smaller furnace...I dunno why)
