New Install of Blaze King King 40 KE Stove on Six Inch Flue and Chimney

Got the rough quote for a new install, getting the on-site quote in a couple weeks. Log racks are built and filling up with windfalls, I hope to have a wood burner and 20%MC wood for fall thanks to harvesting a few huge "standing dead." The education here has been extremely helpful, thank you again.

 

Given the large flue size it took a while (and a few attempts) to figure out how to make everything work well and look good with the absolute minimum amount of parts. Two back-to-back 45s and twice downsizing the hearth pad did the trick. (Had it inspected and everything is beyond code and manufacturer requirements.)

Cooked off the paint with the windows wide open--not easy keeping the stove temperature at 300F with an auto-damper when it's 83F outside. Basically get the fire started and close the damper all the way as soon as possible or keep feeding it really small splits, much smaller than mine. (Much, much smaller.)


The stove is a wood miser, 300F for 16 hours on what you see loaded, cat bypassed at that low temp.

 

Got my Buck 91 in December and man, it was blazing cold!! I opened the sliding glass door in my basement and opened the basement windows and that smell still got into the house on top of the heat running because of the open basement! Whew!! I hope you enjoy many clod winter with your stove!!
