The little sow and piglets were brave the other day...out in early evening... 016578001880936-70-3-08132026154034-SYFW02088.jpg
We leveled out the spot and dug 2 more holes with corn in them.
This pig is about out of sight in the hole 016578001880936-52-2-08192026041616-V-SYFW02798.jpg

Hopefully, their days are numbered, the trapper is supposed to come down tonight for the weekend.

"Shoot 'em now, Lije, shoot 'em now!" One of the many fine quotes from The Outlaw Josey Wales, for the few uncultured folks that may be here. ;)

We learned that if they have absolutely no clue that anything is up, if you drop the first one instantly in it’s tracks with no fussin and squealing the others are shocked enough that you can get a couple more if you’re ready and good.

One time in Texas my buddy Brad was walking in to his stand early evening and there was a couple sows and piglets out early. He dropped what he thought was the lead sow instantly in her tracks and everything scattered. So he went up to drag her off to the edge of the clearing when the piglets started to filter back out of the brush into the clearing ( food plot). He just froze for a few moments to watch. About then one of the piglets came right up and almost crossed his boot. He reached down and snatched it up with his bare hands. About then, said piglet commenced to squealing. Not wanting an angry mama hog to show up, he wrung its neck with his bare hands. Turns out the little one was indeed a male. So the story still occasionally arises about the time Brad used his bare hands to strangle a wild boar!!!:jaw:

When in reality the piglet would have fit whole in one of those old school lunch boxes with the dome top. Ever since then we’ve referred to the piglets as “ lunch box pigs”

    true story
