I was thinking it just sounded like maybe the condenser fan isn't working or there's multiple problems. Probably low on freon at the least.
Trash help? The container for pick up stinks and garage stinks. I was thinking about one of those inexpensive how attachments to spray container out? Pick up is Friday mornings here. ( It's weird here, like stepford wives... All bins are out by dark Thurs night lined up on the curb up and down the blocks and all cars off the street..). I have old pizza to throw out. What do I do w it, itl stink by next Friday and attract ants?
I have yet to find a perfect solution for summertime garbage collection woes. There are times (especially during heat waves) where I go out to the trash can and it's crawling with maggots I blast my plastic trash bin out with a soap/bleach/water solution periodically. You could try agricultural lime to see if it cuts down on the smell, and try to time your disposals so that meat scraps and organic matter don't fester too long before pickup day.
I have a soap attachment that I use. Personally I wouldn't want to use a pressure washer for this job because I wouldn't want to run the risk of having the garbage water come back around and blast me in the face. I had to dispose of an old toilet years ago and thought that pressure washing it first before loading it into the truck was a good idea
I put garbage that will rot and smell in the garage freezer, transfer to trash on garbage day. About 3 times a year I pressure wash the can with some cleaner swisher around with a broom.
In bear country around here, the recommendation is to freeze really stinky garbage and then put it out on pick up day. I hope you have a bigger freezer than just the top of the fridge.
One thing we do, if trash won't go out for a few days, is put scraps in a gallon ziploc bag and seal it. Especially fruit peeling and such. Our cats take care of any protein.
We too put some food items in a ziplock bag and in the freezer until it’s time to take out the trash, once a week and our collection site is just a couple miles away.
We always had a compost pile we dumped scraps on. Mom would keep a gallon bucket under the sink and every couple days it would get dumped. Corn cobs and bigger stuff would go out the same evening we ate.
I think I'll have to that, and find out if we have a site like yours. Also I have an ongoing supply of coffee cans like theburtman mentioned. Unfortunately, now that I'm in a climate to compost HOA doesn't allow it.
Any kitchen scraps end up in the compost pile with yard trimmings. No animal bones/leftovers. Those go in a bag and into the freezer until trash day. Sorry to heat the HOA doesn't allow composting. I get it.
Does the HOA allow having a garden? You could save your compost material and when you have a nice pile of it, dig a hole in the garden and cover it up.
