Morning all. Yes, I am back home and accessing FHC again. Internet problems and cell phone reception was poor while we were away.

We had a very refreshing and uplifting time. Weather was hot a couple of days, rain a few days although not like we get rain here, more drizzle kind. Today, we have a fog overcast that will burn off soon to sunshine.
Unpacking the trailer, doing laundry after campinspecter gets the boiler tank up to temps and house cleaning. We have been invited out to lunch by a nephew and his wife that are up for a visit. Bookkeeping to catch up on so it is going to be a couple of busy days.

    Everyone have a great day.

I mentioned I had done some work on the house IMG_1461.jpeg
There was a wood window in this bathroom for 40 years. It was showing sign of rot, who puts a wood window below a shower head:hair: Nontheless the sill wasn’t rotted (I was shocked too) and a window was $500 so pulled it weather sealed it and installed product shelf.

I wanted a fan (who opens window at 20 below to let steam out anyway. If you look at top you can see the beams 4x6 for floor above so no hiding electrical and duct work… so an in wall Panasonic whisper quiet with a light.. to be honest I am not a huge fan of wife’s choice of tiles .. ceramic porcelain and glass:picard:

I would have removed all and done a nice mosaic with a compass in design BUT wife daughter and I all sharing 1 bath up 7 stairs convinced fast and dirty

Of course, 1.5 foam board behind insert and used piece of zip plywood (green) that had .5 inch insulation on it. In theory r3 better than wall it’s in

2 different temps causes condensation, which causes rot…

yooperdave I am old and broken BUT have built a few houses in my day:cool:

Plus I paid a helper for few days..

    Good morning, members.

Woke up earlier than I'd like to. :headbang:

Hot muggy day. 72⁰/88⁰ overcast increasing humidity. Slight chance of t-storms later.

After my morning walk I'll head to BJ's to restock a few bulk things and, refill gas tank.

    Be safe
    Be healthy

Good morning, ya'll. Hope ya'll have a TREMENDOUS THURSDAY. 72⁰/89⁰ partly cloudy. Another 6PM-6AM night almost done. We were supposed to go trim up ditches for our friends, the Souters, but he said they had gotten 2 heavy downpours yesterday, one about 10PM last night, I'm sitting at work, dry as a bone, they live a few miles out of town and had gotten well over 1/2"...just a small cell over that area.
Guess we will work on the woodyard then.
    Be blessed, be a blessing
    GOD LOVES YOU AND ME

Looks like we got a little rain overnight but not sure how much. We'll take any amount short of flooding right now.

    Good morning.

    73/95 clouds and sun.

Working......yesterday didn't go at all as planned, so there's that.
I ended up making (two) 2hr round trips to the medium sized town due to (someone in my wife's shoes) forgetting something she shouldn't have forgotten to bring along.......oh well, I got a good doughnut outta the deal.
Meanwhile the boys cut up part of the beef......(it's good).

    Have a blessed day folks!

Morning all. Overcast, foggy looking out there. It will clear off to sunshine later. Not warm though.

Yesterday didn't go as planned. We got company who took us out to lunch, helped with a couple of things and didn't leave until evening. It was a really nice visit, long overdue in happening.
So back to the chores, bookkeeping etc. today. I still have laundry waiting in the trailer to be done, campinspecter needs to fire the boiler, etc. If the sun comes out, lawn needs mowing as well.

    Everyone have a great day.

Far be it from me to pass up any chance to add as much insulation as I can when such an easy and simple opportunity presents itself.

With a 2 x 4 wall, it is easy enough to add R-13 fiberglass along with air sealing........but at our age, you do what is deemed best at the moment.

As far as the shelf goes, yeah-it looks nice but I would have taken another tack.

Amazon.com: YASONIC Corner Shower Caddy Adhesive, 100% Rustproof Shower Organizer, No Drill Shower Shelf for Inside Shower, Wall-Mounted Shower Storage for Homes (2 Pack, Black) : Home & Kitchen

Personally, I will never understand whey someone would have a window in their shower to begin with! :headbang:

Before I retired, I worked on one house that had a clear glass 3' by 4' window in the shower!!!!! No blinds, no obscuring or frosted glass-just regular plain old glass! It belonged to some sort of fitness oriented woman (she had the $$$ and made all the calls regarding the house/landscaping)

When we returned to put the AC in, the condenser placement was right below the window. We announced out arrival and got straight to work. She said "Fine. I'll be in the shower!" :jaw:

I told my partner that no matter what, do not look into the window while working on the outside portion of the AC.

We both had a good laugh though as there was a boat on the lake right in front of the property. The fisherman was pretending to work on his trolling motor. (yeah, right!) As soon as the shower ended, the fisherman left.

I wonder how many more mornings he fished in front of her house????

yooperdave I hear what your saying BUT you don’t know my girls those suction cup things never stay there when loaded with shampoo etc
Maybe in your house BUT not in my experience

    IMG_2913.jpeg

You can see bottom of window here standing in bed of f350 I can’t see in window and I am over 6’

Here you put windows in a bath because you want a govt certificate of occupancy to get a mortgage!! When govt started requiring extra insulation to save heating expenses they quickly determined bathroom rotted due to excess moisture .. bath fans solved this but not in older homes…

FYI your R13 fiberglass gets that rating around 74 degrees. I have 2x6 walls with r19 but the point is when outside vs inside temps have a delta over 40° the fiberglass loose around 1/2 of the R rating through convection

regardless that wall is now insulated to 10% better r values then rest of wall and anything in better than the glass window
