Yes Sir they are. Something very special about wild caught, family and a fresh dinner. We didn't cook them over a fire, but had a campfire that evening and cooked them over the grill at our campsight.

You sir need to make it to somewhere on the Pacific and catch some be it the Northwest, Canada or Alaska. It should be more than a treat, trip of a lifetime category. I fish out of Valdez, I have fished out of other port and they are all something special. Salt air, beautiful views and line getting pealed off and the bounty of the sea headed for the freezer.

We are fortunate that Valdez has really nice cleaning stations at the harbor/marina. We process them where once we get back to the campground all that is left is to chamber vacuum seal them and freeze them. We bring a 7 cubic chest freezer with us. Freeze the days catch each evening, rinse and repeat until its time to come home. I would guess we have north of 150 pounds in the freezer from this trip. At the end of the month we have our annual 10 day fill the freezer fishing trip. This was our 5th long weekend trip this summer. I hope everyone is having a great summer and putting some fish in the freezer.

    Tight lines.

They are (black) and one of the 30 rock fish species here. People call them black sea bass because they look like a black largemouth bass.

People gravitate to where they like and with weather they can handle. Alaska is a great place especially those that are looking for adventure and the outdoors. Wintertime is tough here, we had 5 days this winter that the low was -76* and it's a long one. But if that doesn't faze you, the spring, summer and fall is fantastic. I enjoy the winter, love the cold and snow and the things we do wintertime. We snowmachine, snowshoe and hockey, it's a great fit for us.

I *might* could live there in the summer and late spring/early fall. It'd have to be some bad things going on in the rest of the temperate world to make me stay there in the winter. But to each there own. It was hot and so humid here today...I was out in the yard after work, sweating unbelievably....
