For those of you that have a Menards around they are running their 11% off sale thru oct.11th. This is on anything they carry even special orders. Gary
Menards. Their company branded tools are lacking in quality, but prices are better than HD or Lowes on most things. I bought a Tool Shop "dremel" type tool and the body started coming apart at the seam. Also got a drywall screw gun that won't keep depth setting. That's a pain......but boy were they cheap.
I'm not sure you can get worse Lumber than what Liwes sells here. I'm sure the guys making rocking chairs and hockey sticks shop there though!
Their lumber is great if you're trying to build a canoe. One of their yard workers got upset with me years ago when I was redoing my bathroom. There were other people waiting to load up. I kept digging through the 2x4 pile looking for straight ones. I had quite a pile of warped, cracked and twisted boards I put off to the side. I told him I paid for straight lumber and I wasn't leaving until I had what I paid for. I like Home Depot lumber, but I hate having to haul it through the store. The HD near me doesn't have a drive in lumberyard. Neither does Lowes.
I shop at the local place, SBS. Out of a while bundle of 2x4s there might be 2 or 3 that are "bad" and by bad I mean maybe 1" curve in 8ft. At Lowe's they have some b/s sign that says something like "quality lumber. Our lumber is sorted for the best quality so you don't have to" Who exactly is this sorter, Ray Charles?!
The Lowes around here usually has straight boards...but they are so wet they weigh about 3 times as much as they should and when they dry they hook like a hockey stick as mentioned above!!
Menards lumber is the bottom of the barrel. Most of their stuff is junk anymore. The rebate check takes so long to get to you it is a joke.
use it for pellets Gary... http://www.menards.com/main/heating-cooling/fuel/40-lb-premium-wood-pellets/p-2157391-c-6855.htm
You ever use those? I might drag race Gary there for the price LOL.... The rebates last time took 7 months to show up for our hearth build supplies and then it wasnt the promotion at the time we bought of 13% we got a 5% rebate.... I was a little pizzed until I read the tiny tiny fine print again where it stated at manufacturers discretion! O well.. I havnt used the rebates since. We do use the bag discounts though whatever fits the sack is 11% off. We fit a LOT in the bags and even ripped one but they still gave the discount!
