Doctor's appointment in the am. Then decided to get a haircut (third from the left wise guy). Then wanted a coffee,,,,,,three places I drove by and the lines were 20 cars deep. I had no idea coffee sales were booming so well. No coffee so I skipped a few towns over to buy some cakes at a little IGA grocery store. Hasn't been there in years. There's a long story why the world owes me some cake right now. I decided to make it happen before my next doctor's appointment LOL Rain started about 11.00 Plan on getting at least one more. If I see Mike the teacher I'm going to suggest he start scoffing up the sugar maple that was mixed in. He's gathering for this year. Should be just as good if not better than fresh BL.
It’s a dump trailer so unload is quick. Loading takes a little longer. I’d say about an hour for an old beat up partially disabled lunatic. Some improvements that could be made besides a young operator. The winch in front could be mounted higher. Didn’t think of that when I was building it. The winch being at that height requires a little more care in what log goes where and when because the rope will get in the way. If you look at the pic from front of trailer you’ll get the idea. The rear arm could be cut and bent to project more rearward. Getting the end of the log up on top is a mind game of where to attach the tong to accomplish the task without running out of height or falling short. Sort of a fun guessing game for the hobbyist. Another six inches rearward would help. It may also cause a problem of lifting the dump body hoisting a huge log up with empty trailer,,,,, I don’t have that issue now but changing leverage angles may cause it, Unsure myself. I have seen the body lift pulling large stumps out of the ground. Don’t play those games anymore Height of that rear arm is important. The higher the better but you also need to be able to reach the pulley and move it as needed. I’m short, I wouldn’t want it any higher. A tall person would. I have seen it pull the rear tires of the truck off the ground. I’m surprised how well the trailer and rig has held up. If I had to guess I’d say the weak link is the trailer hitch. It’s a nice heavy duty one but pulling a 2500 series off the ground is probably something it’s not designed for Bottom line I’m never in a rush to load. It’s really the most enjoyable part of wood hoarding for me. More of an exercise of the mind than the body. Moving that amount of wood with a button over my back. Don’t know I just find it fun.
In the rare case i buy a coffee ill hit Cumberland Farms. Miss the .99c any size. Now $2,50ish for a large. I take my third cup in the morning with me and am often sipping it at ambient temperature on the ride home. Hopefully the dr. gave you a clean bill of health hence the need for cake! I was at bundle storage under cover in the rain. Back the truck up so i can unload and get minimally wet. Using the reclaimed decking for some "pallets" to keep the splits off the floor as the shed has no air flow under it. Two deck boards with 2x4s under them to make a gap. Hoping it helps with the drying process. Couldnt hurt.
All the places in my area have switched over to those automatic coffee dispensers that require no effort on part of the store. That includes cleaning. The stuff that comes out doesn’t even taste like coffee. Tastes like hot dirty water.
Here’s a photo easily shared lol. I used to get my morning coffee here before work every morning. The real deal, Bunn coffee makers just like Brad probably still finds. Corner of Main and Rt 66. The last of the convenience stores in my area that served good old Bunn coffee. They tore it down about seven years ago and put up a shiny strip mall. There’s a Starbucks in there but I haven’t been in one of those since the first time in the late 90’s. We didn’t get along too well lol Yeah, Dunkin’s were backed up into the roads. Not a fan of them either but in a pinch,,,,,,
What about that convenience store across from Mcdoanlds on rte 66? I recall getting iced coffee and gas there when I did some work on Spielmans point. Id get one for the ride home. Yikes...that was 2009.
automated dirty water dispensers now. Much better off going to McDonalds or Dunkin in that area. I’ve switched to Green Tea at home. A lot less heart burn in the afternoon. My numbers improved enough I can go buy cake LOL From my doctors office. They probably thought it was humor
I don't get the who Starbux thing...and Dunkins donuts are really not that great. Honestly I think Walmarts fresh bakery donuts are better (some MUCH better!) but around here the lil locally owned donut shop is the hands down winner for the best donuts. They close at noon, or when they sell out, which is often well before noon. And I seldom drink coffee, so...always heard it'll stunt your growth
Thats funny. Having tea when I was sick was my normal MO, but started enjoying it so a cup before my morning Joe, now two cups of green tea mixed with either a mint tea bag or a mint candy thrown in. I love mint. ex GF turned me onto it. 2-3 cups of coffee daily. Sometimes four in the cold weather. Stay healthy my friend. Cant hoard loads of BL if you're not well.
Ive tried Starbucks twice...YUCK! Was a Dunkin regular for many years. Afternoon coffee run a must. XL French vanilla for me please. Price went too high and quality varied between locations so I gave them up. Havent bought a coffee to go since April. I usually get one when I cut my "Disney" location as there's a Cumberland Farms (NE chain) right off the highway. Have to get gas for the saws too.
The Donuts are terrible, coffee is ok, here I can get a consistent cup of coffee. BUT my only requirement for coffee is in a cup, and not that sugar added crap. Coffee maybe shot of cream Unless you pull sap of the arch then Yes.. I can drink regular coffee at bedtime and fall asleep, after dinner coffee to me is relaxing
Last one. I'm all done down there. Stay tuned for the offload. Had a crazy idea brewing for years. Good as time as any to try it.
Not too much really. Some long skinny sticks. Some short small to medium logs. One big honking log poking out but it's mostly crotch. Ugly stuff and you'd have to work at it to get some out. It could be done but it's certainly not a great score.
