One of the reasons our forums were crashing out so bad recently is because the files being uploaded here for years were huge and clogging up the server. We had to upgrade to a more expensive server and downsize the size of files we can take in. You don't have to crop your photos, just edit them by resizing them. If unsure how to do it, go to YouTube and watch a quick tutorial. Once you figure it out, you'll never have another issue with uploading pics here again."
Found an $18 hickory handle at a small town hardware store the other day. So now my $2 garage sale double bit is hung. Did not like the shellac/varnish finish so I scraped it off with a knife blade. Rubbed in 3 coats of linseed oil and called it good enough for the girls I go with. It had a decent edge so just shined it up a tad.
The farmer cut our alfalfa field behind our home yesterday. Today we had just pulled in the driveway and there were two bald eagles on the ground. One immediately flew away as he saw us the other one stayed. 5 minutes later 2 turkey vultures were circling the solitary eagle. Eagle got a little perturbed with them but held his ground. After a bit they all flew away. This is about 70 yards straight south of our home. I had a very good idea what they were doing. A fawn went through the mower and they were having a late lunch. This is all that’s left of the fawn. clean up on aisle two
on the way to the mailbox a half hour ago I had a visitor Growing up on the farm my dad called these bull snakes but google tells me it’s a western fox snake. I carried him across the road and let him go in the cemetery He wasn’t happy with this procedure almost 4 feet long when he was stretched out

Yesterday at noon my phone rings and it’s a former firewood customer. He saved my number as I don’t have an add anywhere. Wanted 4 face cords of oak. Told him it might not be under 20% till mid October. He didn’t care it’s going to be stacked on blacktop he says. I say cmon over. There is an empty spot in the pile. He had a 3/4 ton truck and a double axle dump trailer. It all fit on the trailer. He is coming back Friday night for another 4 face cords to haul to his up nort cabin. Nice to have an unexpected sale. Do you normally sell in the off season...green/semi seasoned wood? The last couple years I've been selling green loads in the Spring/off season. Still have a customer wanting a load or two. He'll take any dead should I score any. How soon will you refill the empty racks?
No. I do have a guy in town who buys green rounds. I usually wait two years for split oak to be under 20%. I will re fill the shed once it gets empty prolly mid November

The guy came yesterday for another 4 face cords of Oak and he gave me a tip! Not a Nashville tip but even better! A Scribner’s Lumber & Log Book from 1923. He said his wife bought it a garage sale for 50 cents. It is a very interesting read. Even back then they were preaching about the value of dry firewood.
The guy from town who buys green rounds every spring just left my shed. We drank a couple beers. He is having some health problems and has decided to sell his 3 year old Champion 25 ton log splitter. (Farm n Fleet) He wants to buy dry oak split firewood from me from now on. What’s a used log splitter worth? He wants me to take it on trade for dry oak. We never talked price or anything he just threw it at me. I get $125 per face cord. I’ll have to think about it and do some research,,,,
I looked at it this morning. Started on the 3rd pull, he claims it has only seen non ethanol fuel, engine oil was changed twice, and I see no visible hydro oil leaks. It is three years old. I gotta think about this
Do you have a hydraulic splitter? I know you have the smaller electric for the shed, right? Might come in handy later in life.
That was a neighborly thing to do! Have not run into a Fox snake before but they seem very similar in diet to a corn snake. They eat lots of rats, mice, voles and other rodents. Very valuable around farms and wood lots!
