Well, it's July hot in GA, so here's our setup now. Big fan, 2 umbrellas First time we've 2 different sizes like this. Working through a pile of random length and size wood ,this works great We had a nice trunk section that made some nice 18" splits... This 18" tote is for the restaurant inventory The 14" tote on the right is a mix of oak and pecan
Just wondering if those umbrellas really do much to help or if you're always readjusting to chase the shade. I've thought about one of those pop-up canopy tents many times over the years but always opted out due to the constant put-up/take-down scenario (we get a lot of wind) and also wondered if the legs would get in the way of processing. Not that I'll be doing much splitting in hot weather, but considering an umbrella.
The umbrellas are worth it to me. Patio style, so they tilt easy. We have a stand bolted to the splitter for one, the other is movable. Don't have to move them much.
Man, I sure do sympathize with you T.! I was never stationed in Ga., But Charleston SC. and I remember those July Summer HOT days, humidity was unbearable. Take lots of breaks and stay hydrated!
After a break from the weather and a couple days trips, it was time to visit the woodyard again. We got the 18" and 14" totes finished...18" pictured Sorted out the smaller pieces, put a load on the forks to cut...I know, I didn't have my chaps on, heat stroke weather... Miz Carol helped too. Then we laid out the bigger logs...marked with the XS2511T Then the XS4910 took over...20" bar Nice rounds for the Wolfe Ridge... Miz Carol waiting on me to move the tote and enjoying the fan and shade The trash bin works pretty good, doesn't dump as well as I hoped, but can flip it over with tractor Got the rest of the pile finished Monday afternoon... Needed a 12' log to finish tote, got that done Tuesday morning Then we moved the splitter and started on the cut offs pile. Had a 1 1/2 drums full when we started, got the other 2 1/2 drums full... A plastic tote lid will just fit over 4 drums. Also filled 2 more drums and have a few more chunks to split.
