Great advice! If caught in one, just swim up or down the beach (or, "parallel" with the beach) eventually you'll swim out of the usually relatively narrow rip current, and can then swim back to the beach normally...but it can take a minute, as a rip current can take you out a ways before you break out of it (you just need to stay calm and keep trying to go parallel with the beach...you'll get there)
New obstacles, getting through them one by one.. Differen't rental to move into in August that is already fenced. So, we'll be here longer (I don't mind, gorgeous summers here).
Going to work on the kitchen this week, as in dinnerware, cooking, baking utensils and tools. Only what we like. IE, the nice measuring cups, SS and black handles. The plastic dollar store set from eons ago that most the handles broke off from but somehow we still grab are going bye bye. Just keeping a few silverwares for use this summer, one each one for each of us, skillet and sauce pan spatula and wood spoon, silly plastic measuring cups and plates that won't be moved etc. I'm pumped for this
Changed my mind, moving the vacuum. Breaks down into 3 pieces, not so big of a box and lightweight for a vacuum.
I have the parlor ceiling light glass cover from the 1871 homestead. Shaped like below but pink and etched and sentimental. Appreciate brainstorming on packing so it's protected. I'll try to find a box to pad it, then pad that box and put inside another? I cannot say the year actually. Just that I got it from my Grandparents home (1904) and it was from the orig Great Great Grandfather's farmhouse behind them, the 1871 one. Not even sure when they got electricity, 1903 = 09' ? Anyway I have bubble wrap and the stretch honeycomb wrap.
Depending on size a cowboy hat box I Mean you are In Wyoming fill in box with t shirt and towels etc 2 birds one stone
I looked at the picture first and thought it was a cover for a dish. There are somethings worth keeping no matter what. Beautiful piece. I liked Canadian border VT's suggestion of multiple packing.
CBVT has 7 siblings and 100 some odd cousins both parents; are from families of 7 children 3rd child of respective sides…. I have moved a lot
The 5 point family relay to get kiddo home started this morning at 3 am EST. I sent them an locator tile, card for her pocket and tile for her backpack. It works with the family locator app we use. It just pinged in the air flying over Oklahoma. Neat deal!
So far Dad 3am EST. Airport escort to/from unaccompanied minor room in Charlotte 8-11:30 CST. Cousin in Denver 1:15 MST. Now with Grandma 2;45 MST . Mom, me, in a day or two, can hardly wait!
I'd find a sturdy box bigger than the glass, fill the glass with wadded up newspaper, then pack it totally surrounded in wadded up newspaper too. Tape up box well. Could place that in another padded box too.
That is what I'll do No newspaper here but plenty of other packing materials. And I can get creative with exacto knife for the correct size boxes.
Texted kiddo and asked her to call me when she can but nothing. 2 hours later texted her Grandma to have her call me. Grandma said she's sound asleep in "her bed" she uses at Grandma's house ( she visits once or 3 times a year since she was little). Also she see's my Mother's husband as her Grandpa. Grandmas text was before 6pm MST. There is nothing better/valuable than the love of a Grandma and family for her young cousin to pick her up and meet their Grandma 1/2 way. I'm so relieved and grateful! I hope she sleeps soundly til atleast 5am tomorrow
