While not highly touted for firewood, ive always thought sycamore bark is one of the coolest in nature. The "camouflage" that gradually turns scaly on the lower trunk as the tree matures. This one really caught my eye as the large trunk is white and hasn't gone scaly. Not to mention how close its growing the the house. Yes, I'm a tree nerd!
Got a couple of big boys on the river bank. Their bark shedding is completely unique as far as I know. Reptile trees.
There’s a couple massive ones near my parents place. I’ll snap a pic next time. One is glorious and right by the road.
Luckily the lean is the other way, but the rootball might take some of the house with it. Any sycamore North of the border?
Lots of sycamores in central Indiana. Some of them really stick out when the sun hits them just right.
We don’t have them up here. The Northwoods is completely different than the lower half or 2/3 of the state. There are sycamore trees way down there, but not up here. It gets pretty rocky and cold up here. A lot of trees can’t survive our winters. They are very cool trees. We just don’t have any of em.
