We went to the Augusta area Monday, made a Sam's Club run, late lunch and RecTeq has their main headquarters in Evans, a suburb of Augusta. Made it home with the boxes... We got it put together and did the initial burn off that night. Tuesday morning warm up... Put on 2 8# butts @9:10 AM. Pulled them @7:30PM, 10.5 hrs to 205⁰. Wrapped in foil maybe last 45 minutes on smoker. Rub got a little dark We pulled and chopped a little for supper, had 2 sammiches with a bit left over Later that night, we finished pulling and chopping, that was some tender meat... It's a "portable" pellet grill/smoker, legs fold down, but it's still a heavy unit. Will make a nice addition to go camping.
Looks good Mike. We'll grill them every now and then. Haven't been on sale. We use a mesquite marinade that's out of this world. Good on B/S chicken too, Bought a nice porterhouse the other day we were gonna grill tonight but too windy to start the fire pit.
Nope. It's home built from a 250 gallon propane tank. It's my FILs and my BIL did all the fab work on it. It's a big boy.
Decided to try something on the RecTeq after work... Grilled bacon... 1st batch has this rub and about 2 good dashes of cayenne mixed in... 2nd batch has this rub... Both batches are mopped with this on both sides right before coming off...
Smoked an assortment of lake trout, salmon, and steelhead tonight. This is what was left after dinner. I think we ate about 4 pieces. Smoked with cherry wood and occasionally brushed with maple syrup starting at the one hour mark! Pic too large to upload. Darn it! I guess it didn’t happen, right?
