Here's the final stack. Just under 6ft tall in the middle. I'm actually looking forward to splitting it down to stove size. It was easy splitting the RO.

And a smaller pile of my mystery wood

I would agree. Looks like it's about at the stage of getting the rougher bark.

Ok. So what does young SM bark look like?

That sure looks like what I have. I'll probably stack it with my oak.

    Thanks to all for playing!

Sugar/Hard/Rock maples will have branches exiting more perpendicular from trunk than other maples. How I tell young reds from young sugars.

Certainly looks like red maple to me.

They cut down my flagpole. So, I got a new one.

I'll get it plumb in the morning.

Very satisfied with it after buying unseen. No plastic parts. Rods thread together for desired length. I used them all(6). That's a 3'x5' flag. There's 7 prongs the go into the ground.

Flag day is next week. I'm covered .

Very nice work, Mike. That's a nice pile of wood to process. Good job.
Glad you got another flag pole.

That whole area will get mulched once I know what'll be left to work with.

The flag is on just my side of the property marker.

The greenery that's visible, is mostly spring bulbs, which I'll dig up.

I'd like to put in some knockout rose bushes and bulbs. The flag pole is easily moved, as needed.

For 40+ years, the flagpole off the tree, was an eyecatcher for people coming here for the 1st time. It was also something I used to determine wind direction. I needed to replace it, in addition to being patriotic.
