So it’s been too dayum long since I ran a saw.. Had an absolutely perfect day weather wise, so I took the day off. Dad’s friend Tom, whose property I’ve been cutting on lately, wanted a few trees taken down to aid in widening his driveway. They were all pignut hickory. First and biggest one: Not much room in the canopy so pretty sure it wasn’t going to go as planned.. but it eventually did. If dad wouldn’t have stopped recording, it finished falling by itself. Could have made the holding wood thinner. Not used to falling hickory. And with this picture, I’d like to introduce a new to me saw with much thanks to Eric Wanderweg and originally jo191145 Joe gifted the saw to Eric and Eric payed it forward to me, being he already had saws in this class. I love it. Cut the stump low for Tom. Sucker was soaking wet in a few minutes. I’ve wanted an OE forever and bam. I got to run a legend today and it did not disappoint one bit. I bucked up the log above and this one, a dead standing white oak. Got “lucky” with this tree. If I would have notched a few inches lower, I might have been in trouble. Got about 3/4 of the way down this cutting 16” rounds and there was some jaggers in my way. Went to cut ’em and threw a chain. So I set the beast aside and grabbed a different saw. Couple more random pics of falls. Rest of them were smaller trees. Stand up and buck!! Looks decieving but the bar was off the asphalt a good bit. Hickory holds on pretty good. I kept the biggest pieces of hickory, rest went to mom and dad. Noticed this while unloading. All in all, a great day of firewooding!
Some nice trees to end your dry spell on. Cant get much better than those in terms of quality firewood. I admire how nice you get your stumps. Picture perfect. Glad it went well and you are safe. Thinking you need another day soon!

Now that’s what I’d call a soft landing Nice drop, nice wood, even the sad face piece. I’d save that and nail it to my wall LOL Husky still sounds strong. Enjoy that thing!!

Opportunity knocked yesterday so I split this hickory. One nice trailer load. Hickory doing hickory things. All stacked. Roscoe was supervisor. Site was so bad yesterday I couldn’t even post one pic.
