A tree service cut down trees a couple weeks ago, including some of ours. Pink X of death This was in preparation for a state highway reconstruction project. just under 2 miles - Widening for turning lanes Addition of new traffic lights at two intersections Utility poles to be pushed back Several intersections to be widened/altered Upgrade of two under road culverts New drainage lines Addition of a "shared use path". Aka fancy bike path The real project started the past couple of days. With a port-o-john across the street, we're at ground zero for this part of the project. They were using a large saw to cut into the asphalt yesterday. The sounds of this spring won't be birdsong, but incessant beeping.
Thats aggravating. Hoping an extra trip to the cabin or Cape is in the works. Any way they would compensate you for the inconvenience/noise other than free wood?
It's a state job, no local people involved. 100% MassDOT project. There's still a few unknowns of details of specific activities . Like the Pink X thread, we were told they were to stay/go multiple times. It is what it is.
A trench was dug this week, then filled in and paved over. Utility work of some sort. Today, a pit was dug at the end of the trench, and steel plates cover it. Lovely thump-thump with each vehicle.
There's been work up and down the construction route. We've heard there's 200 utility poles to be replaced. Including one across the street from us.
We also has some new road graffiti in front of the house. A "tree fence" is a wrapping around trees to protect them when an excavator is doing its thing nearby.
I spent 45 years in road construction and never heard of a "tree fence", at least in this type of scenario. The way it's marked out maybe it looks like some kind of silt fence or erosion control? Either way it does look like you could be ground zero for a lay back yard. How long are they predicting this project is going to take? Hopefully it won't be too much of an inconvenience getting in and out of your driveway but I would expect you to see at least some delays getting in and out on certain days.
Not alot of progress aside from some LNG work and nee telephones poles being planted. I don't think this passes ADA compliancy It's our understanding the entire length of sidewalk will be torn out ans replaced.
There's some activity at my end of the stretch. Dressing up the new poles, ahead of the eventual cutover Interesting name on the trucks.
