Grrrrrrrr. If its not one thing, its another. I replaced the door gasket last year and didn't have any issues with this. My wood is good. I don't have a MM, but its years old and EAB killed ash. Nuff said. I only have buildup in 1 lower corner of the glass. I will say that I was really choking it down last evening and only running it around 450 degrees. It turned black upon startup and never cleaned up like it usually does once shes running warmer. Do you think the crap I got was because of me running it too low and never getting it hot enough to clean it up?
Yes, and I'm guessing the stove wasnt stuffed. Poor draft with not a very low outside temp and a small load could cause that I suppose. My corners had some color too. Large glass?
I gave up on keeping the glass clean years ago. It's not possible on a Blaze King unless you run it very hot constantly.
Actually, my glass is very small. Outside temps were high 40's and the stove wasn't even half full. I figured it needed more air, but it went from 68 to 76 inside quickly with the doors open and I didn't want it any hotter inside.
I never have worried too much about dirty glass. You Burn wood the glass is going to get dirty some times. I have an old 30-year-old stove and a brand-new EPA stove. You burn hot it cleans it off. Over 40 years of burning wood, I've learned that for the glass and the chimney both, the best thing is a hot fire. If I don't need much heat I build a small fire. I size my fires so that I can burn fairly hot. It solves a lot of problems. Choking the fire down controls the heat output and wood consumption, but airways gunks up the chimney and the glass.
Yeah low draft of a small fire your aren't going to get a full airwash like a full stove load, if it persists when you get some colder temps and chance for a good burn then I'd change the gasket
Same problem here. High out side temps, High inside the hooch temps. Just want a far to relax by. Stuff it with some good dry kindling and let the draft get going and the pipe temp climb and leave the door open more than your usta. Come the first of November things will change I'm sure.
