with some elm and cherry too.

Got a text the other day from a developer who has let me cut five heaping truckloads of wood from a couple of his lots. Turns out this lot was a couple up from where I cut two weeks ago. Heaping pile of logs, that I thought red maple, but turned out to be silver. Some elm and cherry plus a couple sugar maple trunks in the mix. DSCF0969.JPG DSCF0971.JPG Another pile with skinny trunks that are mostly sugar maple. DSCF0970.JPG
I wasn't that enthusiastic about going in the heat, but it turned out the pile was on the West side of the lot and was just getting fully shaded when I arrived. Pretty easy cut and load. A breeze helped a lot. Plus T storms later and showers overnight would've made it a muddy mess. DSCF0972.JPG DSCF0974.JPG Has to be another four if not five PU fulls there.
When I left. If we don't get much rain I'll be going again tomorrow after I unload DSCF0973.JPG

Nice little score Brad; I know how much you like your soft maple and cherry. I applaud you for hoarding in this heat. I went for an hour long walk this morning and was sweating profusely by the time I got home. Directly into the pool I went. At least we'll get some cooler weather for the next few days.

Thanks. Same source (different location) as that CL's lead you sent me last month. Some decent wood from them.

Full sun I wouldn't have fared well. I was just gonna go slow, but the shade was a small victory. Guessing the wood Gods were looking out for me today.

    Nice score!

Bundle wood use should be on the increase.

This will fill the dent in the bundle wood inventory. Faster drying than red maple. I would guess 2/3 of the score will go to bundle wood inventory. Todays rain and the rain forecasted for the weekend doesn't help. Id like to get another three loads by the end of Monday.

Cherry, red and silver maple are the woods I'll use 100% for bundles. Others get mixed.

I have general cordage customers wanting green wood now so this helps that too.

Split the load off the truck today. Rain ended early afternoon. General cordage will go out right away to a customer. DSCF0975.JPG Bundle inventory DSCF0976.JPG Ill cut another load tomorrow. Hopefully not too muddy.

Great score, my friend. Glad you got some fast drying wood and some customers that want green wood now.

Second load today. All silver maple. DSCF0979.JPG DSCF0978.JPG Split half the load after. Loaded a half cord and delivered to a regular customer. DSCF0980.JPG DSCF0981.JPG Not sure where I'm cutting tomorrow. Couple new leads popped up and have to prioritize

I had intended to go this morning. Sprinkles started early and by the time I hit the road it was a bit too heavy. I was more concerned about mud than actually getting wet. Next cut postponed there until its dry.

On a positive note, I checked out a new FBM listing not too far from there. Roadside cutting back from the wires on a cul de sac with lots of Goldilocks hickory. Rained out rest of today and tomorrow so maybe Monday I'll go there instead.

Got scores coming out of my ears (including two potential BL cuts) which usually happens this time of year.
