Second and last load at this cut. Took my time in the heat (mid 80's here) editing the logs and loading. Six different species today with mostly Norway maple, cottonwood, black walnut, and red oak. Found another BW long enough for the mill but the ends were severely checked so it became firewood. Just realized I forgot loaded truck pics. Guess the heat really got me today. Split about the same amount as yesterday. What's left in rounds Ill split the cottonwood before months end Ill move and stack some bundlewood tomorrow. Next cut this weekend if weather holds for Sunday.
Moved all the nuggets. Half cord bin filling up. Moved more bundle splits next door and stacked. (no pics) Moved the BL from earlier in the week to my friends shed.
Thanks again to Eric Wanderweg for this lead and his help today. Barkless BL. Got rained on a couple times so decided to quit. Probably over a face cord that I'll process tomorrow. Lots more at this honey hole just gotta work for it.
Processed the BL right off the truck yesterday. Yielded about 40% of a cord. It'll get delivered to my friends shed this afternoon. Moved and stacked the rest of the bundlewood pile to the shed next door and stacked. Ill move some of the cherry from earlier in this thread next door later today.
Been under the weather for a week with some flu like bug. Got a call from an old tree service contact called saying he was in the area. Feeling a little better so I checked it out and all BIG red oak. Not for me. Had an appt to check out a FBM listing close by. Free wood already bucked. Rudest SOB I've even encountered. Showed up promptly. Several trees recently taken down. Couple piles of splits with a hydro next to them in the front. Several rounds in the side yard. The guy in the back tossing splits into a pile/stack. Seemed like an effort for the guy to meet me when I called his name. All red oak cut to random length rounds. Most in the neighborhood of 16" from what I could tell. "you're not gonna load these like this"!!! he said rather rudely. Some would require sectioning with the Isocore. I then asked where the maple was. He then growls, "maple, oak, what's the difference its all firewood" I had asked what species yesterday in our correspondence. There was no maple and I made the mistake of saying oak takes longer to dry and then got an ear full of how he dries it in less than a year and has burned it that way his whole life. After a quick survey of the rounds, I thanked him for his time and abruptly left. There wasn't anything I wanted anyhow. I put in a request for the address. He’s looking for a cleanup. Waiting to see if it lasts until tomorrow afternoon. Update: got the address, but he wouldn’t reserve it for me, so it will be a long day at work tomorrow. I may have to leave early. Is FHC using aol dial up?

The source from post #100 text me last week with wood at another location. Checked it out this morning to confirm. Goldilocks sugar maple (some dead) and elm. Back right up, cut and load. I may hit it later this week. Only feeling 75% so didn't wanna push my luck by working too hard. Did some rack repairs, organizing and stacking at the woodyard later. Mixed hardwood from recent cuts. Brought home some apple and sugar maple for smoker inventory here. I have a bundle order to fill tomorrow. Ill move more bundle splits next door and stack as well.
Moved the cherry from post#64 above along with the last of the dead ash next door. About a half cord. Ground had dried enough so I was able to drive the truck to the shed rather than wheelbarrow it. Close to finishing a third row. Ill add some cottonwood to top it off. The front row is silver maple which will get moved back to start the fourth row. The dead ash went in back to get used right away and some did to fill an order. Had a cut locked in from a FBM find (or so I thought). Texted, called and no reply. Scratch it off the list. Ill hit the one I scouted yesterday before it rains.
Getting caught up on your thread, Brad. You have been really busy. Looks great getting those racks full again. Glad you're feeling better, being sick when work needs doing is rough.
Thanks Jeff. Felling 75-80% better. Doubt I could do a full day yet. My Disney guy needs me to cut. Started out as a sore throat a couple weeks ago and evolved into something flu like. Now bronchitis. Last week was rough as I was down for the count. Im content where I am in terms of bundle inventory. Need to get a few cords of general cordage/BTU wood to fill up the racks. Have a few wanting green wood Spring deliveries. Problem is I'll get a score and a good portion of the splits are ideal for bundle wood rather than cordage! Todays cut of sugar ,apple is like that.
Felt well enough to cut so hit the score I scouted on Monday. Wanted to cut before the rain so it wasn't a muddy mess there. New construction lot. Pic from Monday. Rain started when I was 75% loaded. Light enough so I kept cutting to fill the truck. Elm, sugar maple and discovered some hickory under the pile. What's left. Probably another full load. I'll split it off the truck tomorrow.
Split off the truck today. Sugar maple for bundle inventory. General cordage. Hickory. Started a new stack for the hickory as I had some splits on hand. The few cribbed splits are heartwood destined for smoker inventory. Temporary for now. Couple wheelbarrows of nuggets came close to filling the a bin. Possibility of cutting the rest tomorrow.
