Good deal Grizzly...... are you getting any warmup this week?

We did a night load last night, small one this morning, than another night load tonight. Besides for a small fire in the a.m., this should be it for alittle while.

The first smell of burning wood is so good. I opened the stove door and got a whiff of smoke (and enjoyed it) and a moment later heard the voice of my wife upstairs say "oh, thats a happy smell!".
    Tis good boys, tis good!

I'm burning the blue spruce that we cut. That and a little left over ash from last year.

Some of the silver maple I took down out of my yard, the one that was by my garage.

I'm hoping that is now, no Charlie the cat's meow:eek:
How is your chile? Do you use beans and meat in it? How hot?
My wife likes it mild. If it tingles her mouth she won't eat another bite. I like red kidney beans and ground chuck in ours. Serve it with a couple spoonfuls of grated cheese and a side salad.

Charlie and George are both fine. I have ground turkey in this batch because it was the first meat I found in the freezer. Roma tomatoes from the garden, a nice mix of peppers including a few sweet & hot peppers that are really nice tatsting... A can of black beans and two of chilli beans, and some purreed black beans. Oh, and an orange shandy.

I had to lookup that orange shandy. Didn't have a clue what it is. Nice mixed of beans. Never thought of putting puréed beans in. That must thicken it up good.
Wonder how that would work in a beef stew?

Yes, thickens it up very nicely. Got the shandy when we visited the factory over the independence day weekend.

When I got my CDL med card the other day the Doc told me I'm not supposed to take cold meds or benedrill if I drive. I guess it might effect some folks.

Had an overnighter of some poplar, and the thermostat didnt budge from 71. Supposed to be chilly again today - low 60's by noon, then it's supposed to start dropping again. Looks like its time for a morning fire here.

39° and rain here right now. Put some birch and oak in the stove before I headed out the door. House never dropped below 74 last night and we had several windows open!!
