    Anyone know what these are? Not one im familiar with, little cottonwoods maybe? I have a few with broken tops along the edge of the road.

    Second pic see green sucker twig growing from trunk. I wasn't 100% based on bark until I saw that.

    Brittle wood. Commonly seen with voids that cause breaks. Ant infestation common too. I cut some last month that was a break off. Had to leave a lot behind due to ants and rot.
