Ask and you shall receive. Been running low on my stashes and been working on getting my stockpile back up the past month or so. Re-signed up for chip drop and just got a call from a tree service with two loads of Oak (red and white).....woo hoo.........Pic's to come!!!
Gave my wife a heads up................"Err honey, the driveway and curb might be taken up with wood when you get home, park where you can"
Load #1 - I got some cutting to do!! Luckily I have the "Legendary Backwoods Savage" MS290, what a machine!
Yes, unfortunately. Last load years ago they delivered already cut into rounds. All good, I'll get err done and I really needed some oak. Suppose to be another load coming to hit the driveway, I'll be a busy person....
Dug into load #1 pretty good after work. I just wanted to get it as much as I could around back and off the street! This was all that was left of load#1 that is until...................
Load#2 (my neighbors are gonna kill me lol!) Looks like I'll be busy for awhile. Kicker is I am tied up for next few days with pre-planned crap. But can't turn down White and Red oak I needed this to get ahead.
Neighbors are complaining on social media rn about how trashy it looks. Great score! The neighbors will return to their regularly scheduled programming soon enough.
Looks like you might wanna borrow WeldrDave's "Firewood Parking Only" sign! All kidding aside that's a sweet load. Should zip through it rather easily.
I like this approach!! Hard to judge from pics and I am not good at judging but what you all thinking for amount? I was thinking 2 - 3 cords range perhaps?
Glad to hear the ol Backwoods Savage 290 still making firewood Dave remembers being using NH and leaving a GTG got busy BS in and almost forgetting to load it.. But I keep reminding him
You have a solid 2 cord is my guess. After you C/S/S you'll be in that area, my belief. Either way, it's "Firewood"! *EDIT*. Make sure you put a sign on it like I do; "Do NOT Take"!! If you remember a few years back, I caught some JackA$$ tossing MY wood in his truck. I came out and said, "What the HELL do you think your doing"? He said, Oh, it's on the street, I thought it was FREE... I suppose he was right in a way, but he didn't ask either, Make a sign Chuck!
On it brother! I didn't bother the first night or two because it was all big heavy logs, good luck to anyone taking them without machinery. But as I starting bucking them up into 16"-18" rounds, I put a sign out
Making some progress but have a ways to go. Now where to stack and rack it all . Prob my OCD kicking in but can't stand it all isn't up off the ground. I know I have plenty of time before they turn but one of those things that irk me. But unfortunately it's going to have to sit for month or two till I can process it all. Couple of 24" - 25" dia logs in that pile, the worst were the ones w/ limbs they were a pita to roll up on the trailer. Most of what's left is limb free easy rolling.
