Great plan IMO. I sold twice. Both times I felt like it wasn’t worth my hard effort.

 

Seeing an entire winter's worth of my red oak disappear in a couple weeks time is not one of the highlights of my hoarding career, that's for sure. At least the guy I'm selling it to understands what he's getting, and appreciates it.

You could almost call it that. A woodpile is like money in the bank, when you're using it to keep the oil truck away as long as possible.

 

Maybe all 6 figures are Zero's!

 

100 bundles. Haven't been able to supply him with any as my inventory of dry was too low. My other locals get smaller orders. He understood and waited. I wont sell underseasoned wood in bundles. Wood is mostly a mix of dead ash, dead maple, sugar maple, and split of cottonwood and/or tulip poplar.
A regular customer brought him some wood the day before.

Are there wood bundles for sale up there? A lot of the "factory" made ones that I see originate in Canada.

 

I see them at gas stations and whatnot, usually in a mesh bag similar to an onion sack. I have no idea where they're produced though.

Ive though of using those but they don't stack well and are on the pricey side. Don't hold up well over time either. Seem to tear rather easily IME.

 

As someone who's handled a lot of onion sacks (containing onions)..yes, they can.

 

A neighbor had a bunch of ash trees taken down & offered myself and another neighbor the wood. Cut another load, today. I am curious to see how much I got, guessing it's about a face cord. We should have enough wood for next winter, I'd like to have one more cord of "insurance" wood for next spring.

Do you have a bundle wrapping device or do it by hand? Always thought about getting into this.

 

Done by hand with a simple jig made out of scrap wood. You can see how old it is based on the worn out back left board. Only drawback is I have to precut and reroll the wrap. Notice the partial roll of wraps as I call them in the pic. 12" wide wrap used. 8x8x16 bundle size.

 

Took a face cord to my old boss and hauled away what was left of some cement steps he needed gone

Going to your personal stash? If'n you let it sit all Summer that bark wreaks underneath when it comes loose. Benefit it no bark splits and less volume in the stacks. IMO there's minimal btu's in the bark.

 

Oh and for the record, if someone had a grapple to load wood into my truck I wouldn't call them an MFer!
