As the title says, it’s been a while since I posted here. Just kinda fell off. But I still check in. Regardless, I also hadn’t cut wood in a while. I have a good supply and sort of focusing on getting new inventory when it’s easy. My property has ravines and unfortunately the best wood is in tough spots. This BL showed up and I had to scratch that itch. With all the craziness in the world, running the chainsaw clears the mind.

The pile doesn’t look like it but there’s a lot in there. And not too heavy. Got one truck load, going back for more. I burned the most locust I ever have this year and loved it. It was a good three years dry, if not four. Have some stuff that will be three years dry this winter. After that might have a gap year. But I got other stuff.
Anyways, hope everyone is doing well

Good on you for getting it. Looks like you found some metal too.

It's funny how a big pile of BL looks like trash wood and it's about as good as it gets for most. It's an interesting tree. How it was used in the old days is also interesting. It certainly can make some straighter fence posts than some other woods we used to buy for our ranch. We did not have BL here. I have since ID'd a handful of trees in this locale but it's the first I've ever seen here. The first I ever saw was at the town dump. Next time I go, will check to see if some of those young trees are still there.

Was gonna go back this weekend but it looks like rain.

as for availability, it’s pretty common. I have a lot of it on my property. I had some wood harvested over a year ago so was work through oak, cherry and maple tops. Now going after what’s easy/on the ground and BL showed up.

Thankfully metal was on the ground and not in the wood!
