    Now that you mention it the gas was bubbling when I opened the gas cap when it wouldn't hot start. Looked like a carbonated beverage.

    Never knew there was Winter and Summer grade fuels

    The one kid at our local dealer that is a true saw nut, and really knows his stuff, said the same thing...they have to tow the company line for Stihl, but he said if someone specifically asks, he steers them away from it.
    I don't miss it...the stuff stinks! (exhaust smell, not quality...well, both actually!)

    I think a specific secret sauce of temperature and humidity coupled with your hat color is required to ice up.
    Sawing my whole life and I didn't know that was a thing until I got a Stihl. Don't ever remember icing up even on the old carb out in the open saws.

    Wonder if the temp difference only affects mtronic saws? I've never changed it on most of my saws even my other 400. IIRC I posted a thread about discovering it on my 361.

    There’s no real difference between an mtronic carburetor and an adjustable carburetor that has anything to do with the fuel tank getting hot. It’s pretty much all of the new saws that are worse about it than older saws whether they are mtronic or not. The lighter they get, there’s less aluminum and magnesium surrounding the engine to act like a heat sink. Could also have something to do with the design of the cylinder laying back towards the carburetor area a little bit, and also the higher performance of today’s saws creating more heat. I think fuel quality in general plays a part in it as well
