A tree service cut down trees a couple weeks ago, including some of ours.

    Pink X of death

This was in preparation for a state highway reconstruction project. just under 2 miles -

    Widening for turning lanes
Addition of new traffic lights at two intersections
Utility poles to be pushed back
    Several intersections to be widened/altered
Upgrade of two under road culverts
    New drainage lines
Addition of a "shared use path". Aka fancy bike path

The real project started the past couple of days.

With a port-o-john across the street, we're at ground zero for this part of the project.

They were using a large saw to cut into the asphalt yesterday. The sounds of this spring won't be birdsong, but incessant beeping.

Thats aggravating. Hoping an extra trip to the cabin or Cape is in the works.

Any way they would compensate you for the inconvenience/noise other than free wood?

It's a state job, no local people involved.

    100% MassDOT project.

There's still a few unknowns of details of specific activities . Like the Pink X thread, we were told they were to stay/go multiple times.

    It is what it is.

A trench was dug this week, then filled in and paved over. Utility work of some sort.

Today, a pit was dug at the end of the trench, and steel plates cover it. Lovely thump-thump with each vehicle.
