It was not a hit, even though I soaked the raisin bran first, the texture is pretty rough, I prefer the plain banana bread too lol. Next week is bran muffins, we'll see if mini chocolate chips brings them in...

Maybe soak it in milk for a while first? I know it turns to mush in the cereal bowl after about 1/2 hr!
Maybe use some of the milk from the recipe for that?
I'm no cook though, so bad idea???

Great idea! Actually I found that on the internet as a highly suggested tip, and did soak them, ~20 minutes (in some water). Maybe it was not long enough.

I'll order some real bran flour from Amazon one of these days and bypass the raisin bran recipes, only using it because grocery stores here don't carry bran. Isn't that bizzarre?

Edit, our Walmart does not carry it either. Wonder why?

What if you put it in a ziplock bag and smash it to fine crumbs with a rolling pin? That way it would be a lot finer in texture. I have only ever used pure bran for any muffins I make. Up here it is called wheat bran - pure bran with no flour in it.

Thanks WW :), I will try that, I just let them sit in water, gave them a stir then into the mix. It's been a couple decades but used to make bran muffins regularly and it was also pure bran. Like a 2lb bag or bigger. It was sold in the baking aisle right next to flour and sugar, still in disbelief. I have some in my cart at Amazon for next round. None now, crazy.

More rain here. Might raise the rivers back up to flooding again.

It was more in jest. I swear I had something funny to say at the time I posted that, but that train of thought left the station a while ago.

Yep. I can personally say I'm sorry busy with my wife not getting she to do much at all with her ankle in the mend. That limits my time here for sure.

We call the no window ones rape vans. I remember as a kid we'd play a game where if you saw one you'd yell RAPE VAN and everyone had to run and hide.

The younger (teenager) sister of a guy I work with was abducted into one of those vans here locally back in the early 80's...never to be seen again.
Dude did it again a year or so later, but this lady was a young adult this time...she managed to escape eventually, which lead to them catching him later on...he was executed by the state after conviction.
One of the things that threw them off initially was the guy changed the rear doors on his van at some point...the windows were a different shape than what was described/being looked for earlier...gotta remember, this was small town/1980's...low tech cops. IIRC part of his conviction ended up being "new" DNA technology finally caught up with him too.
