I'm surprised a thread on this hasn't popped up yet but curious how the FHC 25-26 firewood usage tally is going. I didn't start burning until the beginning of November (personal choice as I could have started in late September). Currently still burning (snowing here right now) but things are definitely slowing down. I've burned between 3 to 3-1/2 cords so far (all hardwood), which would put me pretty much on track for usage during a subpar winter (not overly cold and not really a lot of snow).
Unless I missed on my rack count, I've gone through 9 8ft racks. 3 cords. Seems like it should have been more.
I've gone through about 2 cords plus however much I burned in lumber cutoffs. I'm guessing maybe a half cord or so. 1300 sq ft house.
I’m at about a little over 3 myself. Half of that was low BTU junk (tulip poplar, sassafras, half punky ash, etc) But I burned plenty of oak and black locust back in January-February when the weather called for it.
I'm at about 3.5 cords, will probably finish out at the average 4 a year. mostly oak, some hard maple and black birch. I thought it was going to be way over that the way winter started, but we got a reprieve as of late with temperatures.
I would guess less than 3 cords. I stopped burning early for health reasons. I had to buy some HHO to get me thru the rest of spring. I think I was quoted a price of $4.58/gal. I order minimum
4 cord at least so far. Started late October and burning now. Supposed to dip into the low 20s tonight.
Just a tad under 3 full cords. Bout normal. We are done burning. I have plugged the chimney so birds dont invade our wood stove (and scare my wife).
3ish cords here, 1 1/2 of mixed pieces of punky and low btu other 1 1/2 of ash and oak. Still have 6 or so cords stacked and split and a few more cords in blocks
About 5 cord. I intentionally burned more than I should have. Still burning-of course. I intended to get the wood room as empty as possible in case I needed access to back wall with whole house generator install.
I'm guessing 4 cord. It has been a long time since I've gone through this much wood. For sure I have lots more ashes than normal, and we're not done yet. Close but it is not yet over.
I've been busy and I usually start one of these threads, Good job EODMSgt for getting it going! I was hit hard this year, I'm over 4 cord this winter, we stayed busy! Average year is 2-3 cord at best. A couple winters back, I only touched over 1 cord.
We have probably burned six cords. Up from 4-5 cords last year. It's kinda hard to know for sure, the way I store wood is changing. It's mostly been ash, some oak, a little black birch, some mystery wood & about a cord of pine, gritzer wood and lumber cutoffs. There were a lot of days where the stove was burning at full throttle it's been so cold compared to previous winters.
When the roomie can home from work, she immediately started the stove. We'll burn cutoffs through the evening and stuff the stove with black birch at bedtime.
