I found this while yard saleing today and have never seen anything quite like this. After doing a internet search on the ESE molded into the head and not coming up with any information. Anybody know about this. I bought it because I have never seen anything like this.

It looks like a mean tool that I would have no use for.

Thanks for the info one this splitting axe, however this one does not have the spring loaded wings. I also welded the wedge to the main head to give that a try, so I will see what happens.

I recall my late uncle having something similar in the 1970's. Made a pop when wood was contacted and worked well from what I remember.

Let us know how it works rusty ranger 44

Brad I got to use the splitter today, after 5 or 6 splits my weld in the swinging wedge broke. It did do a good job on some 8" and smaller fresh cut red oak, however that swinging wedge will take some getting used to. Further testing will be done on some bigger pieces of red oak appox. 24". I'm going to give it some time to season before trying to split.
