Been a busy month or so here, cut down several big yard trees last weekend and ended up with huge sycamore and oak rounds from the job. Gave all the sycamore to a buddy of mine (two huge loads), kept the oak to replace some of what we burned last winter. Here's some of those big rounds that I started busting up today. One of two huge loads of sycamore we delivered from the one big tree The ol' "Pap Steer" earned his dinner today! There was a total of 8 of these big rounds, I got the knottiest of them split up today.... Have a Blessed Easter everyone and remember The Reason for The Season!!
I believe the skid steer and you both earned your dinner. That's some big rounds. Equipment does it it easier
Big stuff there! I would not be able to handle those any more and never did like it so have done very few and those were long ago. I wonder why you gave away all that beautiful sycamore?
Dad has a small Bobcat about that size...sure is handy...small but mighty! I have a little sycamore in the stacks, but haven't burnt much yet...don't know how it'll be. Happy Easter y'all!
I burnt a lot of 3 years seasoned sycamore winter of 24-25 and I'd burn more without a second thought. I've heard the negative stories but that was not my experience. Now those big oak rounds look fine for sure.
A very close friend of ours is going through a second bout of cancer and he burns wood. I delivered a big load of oak logs to him in October and saw his pile was getting small, so he got both loads of that sycamore and we are already setting up a surprise visit to his place to process that wood for him in a month or so. I'll do a post when we do that work.
That little skiddie earns his keep around here for sure. Rarely do we take on a tree job without him in tow!
They sure were solid (and heavy), but some were really knotty! Ended up with lots of uglies from two rounds but they'll still burn nice
