No fire right now. Might light one later today if I get cold while working. Split a bunch of the fallen dead oak yesterday. One was fairly punky and the other was very, very solid. It was like splitting marble! Should be good to go for this fall!
No more burning here until sometime next week, and even then all it will take are small fires during the cooler hours of the day. My last fire of the season usually happens in early May, so I’m not making any predictions yet.
63/70. No fire yesterday/last night. Supposed to be 77 today, then rain chances increase rest of week. I wish this ground would dry out!
I thought you were talking about the dog's cold nose and face woke you up. It has happened to me a few times....
I just lit a fire that’s half pine and half oak. Both scavenged from the woods around us, neither as dry as they should be but they burn fine after a bit. The oak was old pinky rounds I split and the pine was a big dead branch that fell over the winter.
39/72 Nice small load from yesterday still chugging away slowly. Perfect for this warm shoulder season weather. Looks like 7 more nights in the 30's. Believe I will keep the fire burning!
26 Calm before the storm scenario here right now. Snow, ice, winds. I may actually have to plow..... Hope the power stays on!
38 and raining. It’s not supposed to get beyond the mid 40s today so I lit the stove with a small mix of red maple and ash skinnies. They should burn up quickly and get the house where I want it to be.
