I've run about every style of splitter and took the pluses and minuses from them. Every person has different things they need so there is no Perfect splitter as everyone set up/conditions vary. This just works extremely well for what I do and cuts fatigue leaps and bounds.

The swing away table is pretty slick.

My normal is to just back down the length of the trunk and throw off to each side. Once it's all split, I back the truck down the same slot and load on both sides and back. Again, cutting out steps. It really can keep 3 people busy if you have trucks on both sides and load direct. generally not that much room in the woods but when I had help, I've done that in yards and fencerows.

That is a seriously sweet machine! Did you do a thread outlining the build on that?

That is a well thought out machine. I like the swing around tables. That would be nice on the Wolfe Ridge when we have big quarters or halves to deal with...

It does make it nice so they are out of the way while you work up a smaller piece. Saves the bending over/lifting again till it's to size. One plus with a wedge on ram is you don't have to pull the large pieces back every time as well. I didn't want a push through design as that would mean the hanger would be forced to swing on every stroke. With the ram pushing, I can leave the tong attached, holding the wood, and that acts like another set of hands.

Wow, so awesome! Do you mind giving your background to be able to build something like that? Impressive! Love your tong lift gizmo and that swingaway table. And those stabilizer feet, sheesh! You da man.

High school graduate. Started working on a farm at 16 with early dismissal from school as I had enough credits. Did that for 15 years and learned fab, repairing and building there. You learned over time knowing where weak points were and where it was going wear out or break first. Ending up having to leave as the Money just was not there from a retirement aspect. Hired into a machine shop and worked my way up. Tons of overtime and retired early at 57.

Always had the desire to make things easier and think while I work to keep my mind occupied. lol
