Ugh, is that what they're telling you the recovery time is for your hip replacement? I'm going to push getting mine done for a while as I can still manage most things other than driving. The orthopedic surgeon just talked about the immediate recovery period after surgery (would be using a walker or crutches for about a week but should be moving around okay after that) but we didn't discuss long-term recovery. If 6 months or longer is the expected recovery time, I definitely need to get my butt in gear and get loaded up on firewood in case I can't process for an extended period of time again. EODMSgt My wife had both her knees replaced last year and she was told total healing would take up to 18 months. When you consider they are cutting off a piece of your upper leg bone, it is logical it would take a good period of time to get back to strenuous work. Normal getting around happens quick after hip surgery but you are limited on the stress you put on your hip. I have to sit on the floor to tend to my Lopi insert, so that is out of the question until the next burning season. I was told you have to keep your torso and leg at a 90 degree angle or better for the first few months. No pulling your knee up to your chest. You run the risk of putting it out of joint, which is not good.
I'm sorry, brother. May JESUS give you a very quick recovery. I think the hip replacement is way better than a knee. Just be careful and do what you can.
A beautiful evening after work yesterday, so we went to the woodyard. Had 1 330gal complete tote left, got tools out and had it prepped in 20-30 minutes, ready for wood. Had some bigger rounds to process... Making smaller pieces from the big pieces Some more big rounds under the lights We quit about 9:30PM, got these knotty pieces left, probably have to noodle some tonight A bit left to finish tote
Had a little time after work Wednesday evening to visit the woodyard. We had some big knotty pieces left, so went single wedge on those... Had to and 2 small logs to finish tote. Then we split the chunks into another basket. Well, Miz Carol went on 1 piece, think she had a moment... ...tried Blue Samson out a different way...... Yep, it was stuck......got it off finally with a few whacks with the hand axe. We have almost a full basket of chunks now...these will.be great in a few years. We have all the 330gal totes filled with 16" splits now, got them all in 2 rows, 10 total.
