Just heard about it. Supposedly better than their X series axes. Even if I was still hand splitting at $130 MSRP too much for this cheapskate. Anybody own/try one yet? Knowing me i'd probably break it. 203K views · 1.5K reactions | Fiskars Ultra! Their Best Axe Ever!? The X27 compared to the all NEW U32 splitting ax! 5 pounds and 30”? No thanks. I’m not a fan of Fiskars’ wonder-axes. (Edited to add: I’ve bought both their X27 and the heavier splitting maul and don’t believe either live up to the hype. And the “special coating” they put on them is not durable.) Splitting short blocks of straight-grained frozen red oak shouldn’t be a challenge for even a 3-pounder.
Rarely do we see any of these "influencers" actually split a round with a knot or two. I'm not impressed.
$130 is certainly a bridge too far for this hoarder. Especially since they have tightened up on their warranties.
Very odd that they have this right next to the new X32 for over a hundred dollars more. Looks to be the exact same bit geometry. Looking around more for reviews, can’t figure out what the upcharge is for- thy already come with shock absorbing handle and nonstick coating on the blade. Looks cool but the price is a head scratcher.
The X27 is a great splitting tool! When I first got mine, I was tempted to name it "Greased Lightning "; it was so much faster than a traditional maul.
Love my X27 as well. Question regarding the search function on this site. I knew there was a thread about the U32, but when I searched for it, it came up with no results found. The title of the thread is "Fiskars U32 Axe" how would it not point me to it?
The search function here has always been a bit clunky. I always search by title and uncheck the other boxes, otherwise the search looks in the wrong place.
It seems that 3 letter "words" or smaller won't register with most search engines. Add in numbers and it really doesn't know what to do but hey, AI is the future, somehow... Even larger words don't work here. I'm better off going to the sub category and finding the thread I'm looking for myself. That's if I know what I'm looking for. Pretty much useless, like most modern technology.
I searched for "U32" "Fiskars U32" "Fiskars" and didn't even see this thread as a suggestions. It comes up when I search Fiskars U32 in Google though. LOL
