Depends on how long it's already been there, and what type of wood, and weather, and whether it's on the ground or elevated, whether the bark is on or off, and any combination of those factors. I'm sure there are more. I guess the phrase just means to get it ASAP.
Ha! What's to big for you? I thought it was a white oak but looking at the pics I might be wrong. I'll be by there tomorrow and double check, might bring the measuring tape as well.
That one right there is plenty big enough for me. I prefer trees between 16-32 inches. Plenty big enough and easier to handle. How big is that one? Looks like about 42 inches across? Let us know. Would you?
Looks like it'll last a long time the way it is. It's off the ground & must be in a spot that gets lots of wind Lots of possible bar pinching cuts there , pay attention ! You have lots of saws ready to cut one out if needed
I will say +1 on , Cutting that thing looks like fun! and nature already took it down for ya, but you missed that fun It's not going to rot any time soon setting like that
That one is a good find just sittin' there waiting for ya (whenever you get to it). Have you figured out yet what type of tree? The wood looks like the cherry color, but the bark does not.
It measures 9.75ft around a couple feet up so if my math is right is about a 38incher. It also clipped a honey locust. I'm guessing its a shingle oak see pics of leaves below.
