5 pounds and 30”? No thanks. I’m not a fan of Fiskars’ wonder-axes. (Edited to add: I’ve bought both their X27 and the heavier splitting maul and don’t believe either live up to the hype. And the “special coating” they put on them is not durable.) Splitting short blocks of straight-grained frozen red oak shouldn’t be a challenge for even a 3-pounder.

Rarely do we see any of these "influencers" actually split a round with a knot or two. I'm not impressed.

No doubt...that oak looks like you could stab it with a flat blade screwdriver and it'd split!

$130 is certainly a bridge too far for this hoarder. Especially since they have tightened up on their warranties.

Very odd that they have this right next to the new X32 for over a hundred dollars more. Looks to be the exact same bit geometry. Looking around more for reviews, can’t figure out what the upcharge is for- thy already come with shock absorbing handle and nonstick coating on the blade. Looks cool but the price is a head scratcher.

The X27 is a great splitting tool! When I first got mine, I was tempted to name it "Greased Lightning "; it was so much faster than a traditional maul.
