As I've been burning wood, a rack here and there open up to be refilled. I was going to move some recently processed RM to a rack. As I turned the corner in the woodyard, I was greeted with - ~sigh~ not the first, not the last. I started dealing with it. I got about a half of it done, as I had other things more pressing. I just tossed some covering over it, as snow us set to make another appearance tomorrow. Oh well. Life happens Gravity sux
I emptied another rack of RO. Uncovered a rack of RO dated 12/21, I believe. I've got empty racks for at least 2 cords Beautiful day here. My new avatar
I might have to explore getting tree length wood delivered. It's been a long time since doing that. Maybe a wood angel will tap me on the shoulder.
Yeah.. at this stage, spending $'s saves on time/effort. I'd look for fresh cut to support the 3yr plan. And hopefully, green wood will be cheaper.
I googled Chipdrop looking for a local one. All I got were different deals on wood chips from them. Is that the same place to contact for logs?
Yes. You create an account with them (free to sign up) then put in a request for "chips" As you go through the request process which only takes a couple minutes, you can specify that you're looking for mostly logs and whether or not you will accept wood chips in the load. If you accept chips along with the logs, you increase your chances of a tree service delivering to you. You can also specify what species you WON'T take (pine, willow, etc)
I almost completed creating my account and was reading the rules when I realized with my hernia and pending surgery it might be a good idea to wait until my body is ready to rock and roll before activating.
That's logical. No sense in having a potentially several cord load dropped off (and in your way) when you can't even process it.
Having seen yours and Mike's places in person I give you both a lot of credit for the obstacles you face. Im kinda in the same boat to a lesser extent.
Always an idea call some local tree companies in your area and find out what they do with there logs you might be able to score a deal
There's been a fair amount of melting, to date. I was out chopping at icy patches to assist with the melting. 60's this week should melt away the snowpack, so they say.
Looking better than mine Mike. Hoping for the same here. With the frozen ground before the snow it likely slows it down. C'mon Spring.
