We got between 6-8 inches of snow overnight. When the plow came thru, there was a nice layer of ice left on the road. I had to get my wife to the dentist this morning, after snow blowing the driveway. We made it on time.
40/72. Got up this morning to about an inch of half frozen slush on everything. Luckily it was warm enough today to melt everything that was on the driveway. Temperatures are slowly dropping now, so I lit the stove with mostly tulip poplar with one short chunk of pin oak.
Siting at 8 now. With clear skies and 40” of fresh snow this past week , we are going below zero overnight, but not the -30s we hand in January. Burning poplar and birch currently, with sugar maple cued up for morning.
After a day of the furnace not kicking on, it is back to freezing temperatures. Next few days are cold. Mostly chunky boilerwood is in the hopper.
27/68, white oak in the Osburn. We discussed this morning our excitement for freestanding stoves whenever we get going on the new build. I can’t help but keep saying that we sure have burned a lot of wood for the amount of heat this insert puts off.
8/70 burning Maple and Boxelder in the insert. Watching the hockey game. Later today I'm going to my bosses house and cutting up an oak tree he had dropped. Then the wood is mine, plus he will help load my trailer. Win-win. Photos in loaded truck pictures thread later.
Yesterday was cold, but I split hauled and stacked a bit Today is similar, 23° out feels like 8° with a 20 mph wind from the north. Box elder and ash in the quadrafire. 71° inside.
32/70 and just got the stove chooching again with a black cherry/tulip poplar mix. This morning’s load of black locust and poplar kept the house warm all day while I was gone.
72/42. Headed down to 18 tonight. Then we have a warning trend coming with daytime temps back up into the 60's and 70's. You hoarders up north stay safe and warm. My name is Mike, and I'm a hoarder in Ok. Lopi Endeavor and Republic 1250
Started out at +8f this morning and made it to 23f. Talking +4f for tomorrow morning with a high of 24f. Turned the furnace off a few weeks ago during the nice weather and it is still off, so stove is keeping the house at 62-65 range. I see no reason to turn it on at this point as it should be getting warmer as the week goes on. Had ash in the stove but brought down some more locust for the next couple of days.
22/74 just reloaded with white oak. With most of the snow melted aside from a fresh 2" that fell yesterday its wooding time tomorrow.
