My old 026 is in need of some tlc. Still runs good but like me it's showing it's age. Since I prefer to support my local mom and pops dealer instead of online shopping I got a price on parts needed from my dealer. 200 bucks. Probably can get the aftermarket parts for half that but I stand on my principles. Even then the saw ain't worth 200. Gonna put it back together and run it like I stole it. That being said I still felt the need for a replacement for when it does eventually puke. A trip out to the truck, a quick smoke and more coffee and right back into the shop I went. The owner already had this on the counter ready to do the paper work. I guess he knows me to well. Might take an old timer awhile to get used to the M tronic but I will.
Those 261’s are good saws. You’ll like it! Set up/save your MS260 for limbing and lighter work and use the 261 for blocking and such. The new saw will have more torque and be smoother.
