My wife's car needs a new battery. I have been looking at Odyssey batteries. They are a littl e more expensive but supposed to be a good battery. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are the brands you'd recommend or recommend to stay away from? Thanks
I’ve had tremendous good results with the Walmart Everstart battery (made by Johnson Controls). My truck gets at least 6+ years out of em & our other vehicles at very least 5.
Odyssey is one of the best you can buy. We had one for several years in a vehicle we used to pull a small camper. The portable fridge was run off that battery, via a 12 volt receptacle, and it could go a few days and still easily start the vehicle. It was one of their deep cycle / starting batteries. I sold it with the camper. We've also had great success with a Duralast platinum AGM from Autozone. I won't buy traditional lead acid batteries anymore. AGM only.
Ive had good results with interstate batteries The one in my truck is over 7 years old. Watch it go dead tomorrow since i bragged on it.
Deka/ East Penn batteries for conventional batteries. Odyssey are great, but pricey. Optima used to be great as well, but Johnson Controls bought them and they went downhill quickly. Now they are Clarios and no better. There's a lot of Clarios brands and while they are local here, the batteries from Pennsylvania are better.
Mentioned Johnson Controls made are quality. Diehards are still Johnson I believe. Deka is another quality name >> East Penn Mfg.
I felt like I was stealing getting 27F Johnson batteries from Toyota dealer in late 00's for $135. About $17 per year realized costs. Other than an unecessarily expensive battery for my buggy I have not had to look at battery prices for a while. I probably do not want to.
You don't want to. Trust me. My wife is getting one for her 4Runner for Valentine's Day. That's not all I'll buy her, but it's the most expensive thing. Btw she gave me the idea to get her a battery for her 4Runner for Valentine's Day. I'll also be buying us a late Winter vacation to somewhere warm, so $$$.
