Im with ya on this. Zero motivation when its zero outside!!! Laying low inside. Mid teens and dropping with wind increasing. Couple of inches of snow overnight.
21/72 running on not coals, just took half bucket of ashes out. We are heading out late afternoon for dinner at a favorite Amish buffet then a Colton Dixon concert. Going to load up with a big oak round and some knotty hard maple splits to hold till night.
1 above, supposedly heading to 2 below. Wind is really whipping around outside now. I burned mostly red oak and black locust today, but switched to ash just now to vaporize some of the coals.
Another 6” of powder last night into today. Just finished plowing before nightfall. Temp dropping faster than a heavy rock in a deep lake. Watching a movie currently. Stoves humming, 71f inside, 3f outside. Headed to negativesville by morning. Stay safe friends!
Agree about the motivation, was outside for 1/2 hour this afternoon to bring wood to the porch. Nasty 20+ MPH winds and teens, -0 wind chill...I hate wind. Potbellied stove in basement going with pallet mill ends and insert on main floor roaring with chestnut oak.
Evening news reported gusts near 50mph close to me. Wind chills are nasty and not improving till tomorrow.
2/70 just got back home and still have some coals but time to load up the Buck. Food was good and concert was great. Going below zero overnight. Sugar maple and ash on deck.
0/72 just reloaded with white oak and hickory. All the snow is putting a halt to my food plot tree clearing project.
16/68, nice square oak splits this morning. Will split a little kindling and try to cut or split some wood today. Spent some time yesterday moving logs and pushing snow so I could have a space to work.
0 / 61 more than cold enough for me. Oak, Maple, Ash, it's all in there. Need to move some wood into the house in a few hours, but that's it for me. Have a blessed day!
-1. I hope this cold doesn't last long. It appears our warm up won't be great except for Tuesday...but that could change too.
8º at 0630, 66º inside, wind hit 52+ mph last night by my little gauge, I gotta check the official NOAA wind to see if it went higher. Warming up now in here, wind sucks the heat up the chimney.
