26 and spitting rain/sleet. Doesn't look like it's going to last long though. More square wood in the boiler.
28/72 just put a couple small splits of cherry in, the wife loaded a little later this afternoon. Cold weekend coming.
29/74. 2 splits of BL on top of the coal bed. Hope that lasts till nights reload. White stuff is coming down, probably 1/4" so far.
27/72 - supposed to get into the single digits in the morning with sustained 20 mph wind with gusts approaching 50. Going to load up tonight with oak and ash!
24º and heading down.... Oak again, and all that's left. Wind right now is about 15mph, but supposed to pick up and hit 50+mph and the temps plumment to single numbers later today. This it what sucks living on a penninsula surrounded by water.
18/68, oak. Shoveled the fireplace out this morning. Might try to split some wood today. The sun melted some snow yesterday but I doubt the pile of rounds is uncovered. Maybe I’ll buck the last half load of logs instead.
Strange readings this morning. 20 miles north reports 1 degree while 20 miles south is 12. Yesterday was forecast to get above freezing. We reached 32 briefly before the clouds started breaking up and the wind picked up and the temperature began falling again. Not much there but maybe a promise that more is coming next week. It made me think of the old saw about the thaw. We thought we thaw a thaw but think the thaw went through, without thoroughly thawing anything in need of thermal therapy. So we thrash through the thick, thoughtless Arctic thrust and thread through and thrive in it’s thrill and hope that we thee a thaw thoon. So we thrash through the thick thoughtless Arctic thrust, and thread through and thrive in its thrill. And hope that we thee a thaw thoon. Thanks.
Waa up at 5:30 to let dogs out. Phone said 18. Now it's 12 and dropping . The hawk is out. Looking at -20 windchill Loaded mulberry in stove
12 dropping steadily with a fierce breeze blowing. Burning up various chunk wood and shorts… beech, maple, cherry, ash, and gray birch.
Put 2 splits on the fire when I let the dog out about 4;30a, wife put more on about 9. We’re feeding it more than I can ever remember. 72 inside and zero motivation to go outside. Stay warm hoarders!
