I'm 49 years old and now have officially had the flu 2 times in my life. First when I was 12 years old and secondly, earlier this week. I tested positive for flu b after having my sister drive me to urgent care Monday morning. I could have driven myself if needed but she's retired and volunteered. Glad she was around to be honest. 4.5 days of 102ish fever, chills, terrible headache, and the worst body sweats I can ever remember. Hoping nobody else gets it because it is no joke!
The CDC usually announces about this time that this year's flu vaccine was developed for the wrong strain.
This flu took out my healthy and vibrant 94yo uncle about a month ago...he got sick, couple days later he was in horsepital, couple days later, gone.
Yeah, "like" seems so inappropriate sometimes. I had a coworker end up with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) from a swine flu shot in the late seventies. Ended up paralyzed from the hips down. He died a few years later.
That's what got my former FIL...it starts at the toes and works it's way up. He got MRSA in the hospital too, so he didn't stand a chance.
I pray you get better fast! Amen You are right in that the flu can really knock you down. Seems I used to get a case of flu every year until maybe 10-15 years ago when I started getting flu shots every fall. I have had only one case of flu since...and that was covid, but a short lived and not a serious illness.
Not necessarily. A study of the flu infection data at the Cleveland Clinic for the 2024-25 flu season yielded an apparent increased risk of contracting the flu for those who took the flu shot versus those who did not. I had the flu right before Christmas, but it wasn’t too severe for me. Sore joints, chills/sweats, mild fever, zero energy was the worst of it. Within 5 days I was functional again. I had some lingering junk in my throat for another week afterwards, but then I was back to 100%. But everybody gets hit differently. I think it’s been 15 years since I caught it, and come to think of it that was the last time I had a flu shot. I hope you knock it out quickly jrider and sorry for your loss brenndatomu
Fake news: "Based on the search results, Science, Public Health Policy and the Law is a controversial publication that has been characterized as a predatory or fake journal rather than a legitimate peer-reviewed scientific publication."
I didn't like this part: In an analysis adjusted for age, sex, clinical nursing job, and employment location, Adjusted how??? Seems fishy.
