33/72 I’ve been burning black locust and red oak all morning, but just switched to white pine to incinerate the heaping pile of coals.
15/68. -8 windchill this morning. Woke up at 4 to the furnace kicking on so the house got down to 62 last night. Shoveled out the ash, tossed in few cedar scraps, a 2x6 cutoff, and the rest oak. Going to be a cold week!
14f/68 0 degree windchill and its the high for the next 2 days lol. Black locust and cherry keeping us warm.
Good morning from Dixie. Sun came out and most of the snow was gone by evening. Nice and chilly this morning Got the stove going with a mix of soft maple round, holly split and hickory chunks
20/71. Fed the Englands a 70/30 mix of BL and CO last night. Just oak for the daytime burn. Looks like we’ll be chewing through some wood for the next month/month and a half. Overnight temps are .
Good morning everyone 18 and stove loaded with BBL (beautiful black locust) Steady diet of BBL for stove next several days.
28 and snowing. It's been pretty steady for the last 18 hours or so. Not sure what's on the ground. 61 inside and warming. Ash and 2 splits of oak so far.
-4 yesterday morning. -6 this morning. And then there's the wind chill.....-26. this is just the beginning of it though. Friday's low is predicted to be -26! Been there, done that, got the frostbite..... Ended up with snow that had to be plowed/shoveled sat and sun and once again today. Probably an easy 15"+ All the pushing back of the snowbanks I did the other week and I'm almost right back to the same point where I began-driveway is getting narrow once again.
It feels like January outside! Might feel like the north pole this weekend. My job this week and next for sure will be keeping stove going strong and keeping wood to the porch.
Yes. It is loaded and parked in barn! That plus 4 totes right near porch. White oak in totes and red oak on tractor.
Temp has been falling most of the morning. Down to 9 now. Wind is nasty...wind chill is -10. Haven't made it out to the boiler yet, but it will get a healthy load of ash to get us through tonight. Supposed to be low single digits.
