Relax, nobody is "tearing him down", I'm sorry you feel that way but everybody here wants Woodstock to succeed. Whether or not a person owns a specific stove is not a qualification for having an opinion either way. It is poor form to call anybody a keyboard warrior or band wagon jumper. Name calling.

It appears only the IS has that welded on tab but ALL of their cats are unavailable.

Highbeam I am calm I DID not call anyone anything.. I just don’t admire the human trait of “jumping on the bandwagon” which is prevalent on internet discussions.

Thanks for your input. I think if you were to back through this thread you would see the problems I have pointed out. The folks at Woodstock seem to be good folks.

I've run a small business for a few years and it can be a PITA sometimes. My dad also ran a small business for a good part of his life.

As far as I am aware, the source of information about the status of the company, their products and their supplies have all come from ownership and upper management.

The EPA being shutdown part of the year had to be very frustrating.

I stand by what I said. Sorry if I wrinkled ya. It wasn't my intention. My intention was to share my experiences and how the information from other users, members of the forum, online newspapers and Woodstock's website affected my decision making.

I think the easy in and easy out of the Woodstock cats is an awesome design. Unfortunately, no one can get them. I can't justify putting my $$ into a product that I can't get the main part of, if mine fails. And if it fails, what then? Burn it without a cat? Don't run it at all?

EDIT: No one has ever called me a keyboard warrior or accused me of jumping on the bandwagon. I'm actually quite the opposite. Woodstock's business decisions have directly affected me and my family. Everyone has a right to their opinion.

Are you saying the EPA is going back to cribwood only in their testing?

Specifically what company was loopholing the test?

Burnin Since 1991, you didn’t wrinkle me I got thick skin, I am glad you do too:handshake:

As far as I know the “source” of 90% information is a website, and lack of answers to a 1 800 number.

since I have family in Bridgewater VT home of Long Trail brewery, also previous home to Woodstock, I might have some inside info about area.

My IS is a 2015, I got 2 cats at home, my concern is Tom the owner saying to heck with it and retiring.

i could order a generic cat and weld a flange to fit..
IS without cat just as easy to get NC 30 or fisher type used and run it

I hear ya and I can handle it too. I've been around the block too many times to be thin skinned

Sounds good. In that last newspaper article Tom said something about going into the furniture biz. It was on vnews.com. I went back too many times and now I'm hitting a pay wall.

Yes, cordwood is out and crib wood is back in. Too bad because the cordwood test was a lot more real world than crib wood.

My source wouldn’t divulge the stove manufacturer that ruined it for everyone else but if I had to guess it would be SBI.

So the NC-30 would be 1.6 gph again.....

Why do they always ruin the good stuff?

Should be valley news paper, I can look it up. If you want
Tom is a very personable guy but he’s got to be 70+ I think that might be a tongue in check way of saying a recliner meaning retirement

Backwoods Savage mentioned Tom was trying to recruit him to work, Heck when I went down there to pick up my IS after refurb he was recruiting my cousin as it was his truck and they didn’t have a forklift driver on Saturday so he hopped in forklift and loaded stove into truck.

I didn't realize he was that old. I'm 66 and my recliner is my third best friend, after my wife and dog. Maybe fourth after my woodstove. But right up there at the top!

We are same there; hey I don’t know where you live BUT send me a PM if you want you are more then welcome to come see my IS, currently 14° degrees (days high temp) kitchen is 70° thermostat is 25’ from stove up 1/2 flight of stairs and around corner and only heat on. Noticed the patriot avatar. Or I would meet ya at Woodstock factory, before Covid they had annual open houses at the factory

This thread has convinced me to grab a few more Cats to put on shelf in August, yeah I’m a hoarder, BUT ounce prevention v. Pound of cure

I might be ageist in saying this BUT most 75 year olds are not updating website as a top priority.

That's an interesting quote. We specifically buy American steel whenever we can.

EPA and all of those 3 letter tests/ agencies sure do hold up things though.

It's cold as bleep here in NJ, we're getting snow for a second day in a row and the Ideal Steel is rockin. Oscar loves the white ash he's been getting and there is a flame cloud hovering above the splits. Pretty flippin cool.

It was never ordered so nothing to do. There is a glitch in the system that hopefully will get fixed but so far they have been able to find the mistakes and refunds have been made.

I travel all over to many different states with the job I have. I work has an inspector in the mining industry. The worker shortage for skilled labor is crazy. Every company seems to be struggling post covid. Tariffs have not helped the issue either. Yes you can outsource work but most of the time you sacrifice quality. In good due time Woodstock will get lined out. A great company.

I called and inquired when the stoves would be back in stock and was told they cannot sell some models until the epa recertifies them. They have been waiting for months and no have control over the EPA timeline.

Soapstone is found in the Appalachian range from Maine to Georgia with significant deposits in Vermont and Virginia. why would tariffs matter if the soapstone and steel comes from the US? I understand some parts might be imported, but the main components should come from the US.

Just checked website and cats for several models are available
